I need some help! Yesterday I took Otis out to potty and he had to do number 2 well when I went to clean it up it had like mucus or what looked like mucus in it. It was slimmy. I am sorry if this makes anyone sick, I am just worried that there may be something wrong with him. He doesn't act like he feels bad or anything, I haven't changed his food. I just need some advise or need to now if anyone else has had this problem.. Again, I am very sorry if this sounds gross there really is no other way to explain what I saw.
Plus, I told you all that I would post new pics of him. So, here they are...

Im no expert by no means but my two yorkies have done this before. I was so freaked out :eek: they played as if nothing was wrong with them so i just figured it was something they ate they got over it quickly and have been fine since. Maybe yours ate something? If it is a problem maybe i need to find out too huh ;) Good luck with your fur butt

Well bella has that and she has clostridium which she's on med's for she has an outbreak every once in awhile though with mucous poo. It could be something else though.

Mine have had that when I have switched foods, new treats or theyget stressed going ot the vet. I would have your vet check a stool sample to make sure it's nothing serious. Good luck.

I haven't used anything new. He did it a couple of times right after I brought him home and the vet said it was probably just the stress from leaving his litters mates and a new place. He told me that if it kept happening to bring him in for a check up, but it stopped. It never happened again until the other day. I will call him and see if I need to bring him in. It could be coccidia mucousy poop is a sign of that or it just could be intestnal upset. It might be worth it to do a vet visit

Lula had this side effect once in a while with the parasite Giardia ... the vet just needs a stool sample to check for this.

Mine get this every once in awhile and the vet calls it collitis. It is an upset of the GI tract by eating something that doesn't agree with them or stress. I would have a fecal test to rule out other bacteria first though. The vet will usually tell you to feed a bland diet, chicken and rice or just rice cooked in chicken broth until their poop gets back to normal.

i agree that it could be coccidia. Kash had coccidia when i first got him and his poop was mucousy. he also strained and dragged his butt. does your pup do that at all after going #2? anyway, i got meds from the vet after getting a fecal test, and it cleared right up! he hasn't had diahrrea or mucousy poop since! good luck!
