Maggy May Update
 

Well, I'm back from the vet with Lil Miss Maggy May, I have some good news and some bad news. I'll start with the good news. The doc did the skin scraping and it came back negative for the demodex mites (YAYYY) but he said I can still go ahead and give her the Goodwinol med for a month just to be sure, he said sometimes they can real be way down in the poors and will actually have them even if the skin scraping came back negative, so, when we got home I started her back on the Goodwinol. He said he believes the spot on her forehead is a bacterial infection, she has a really deep divit in there between her eyes and said I'm gonna have to be very careful and make sure that stays super clean in there and no dirt build up cause the divid is so deep, he also said she may have problems with that all throughout her life so be sure and keep a very close eye on it, so, she's on cephalexin antibiotic 2 times a day for two weeks for that. She was able to go ahead and get her rabies shot today and so far she's doing great, no reaction, keeping my fingers and toes all crossed here. I also spoke to him about her getting spayed, I desperately want to get her spayed and wanted to have it done before she came into her first heat, but, with all the hurdles she's had to overcome and is still over coming, the vet and I want to hold off as long as possible to give her time to be in tip top shape & get over everything that's going on, and then we'll get her in for the spay. Now for the part that makes me feel like a super big idiot. When we got Maggy, she came from a really bad situation, I didn't see the parents at all, my sister had called me and told me about this whole litter of pups that were going to be euthenized if the lady didn't find homes for all the pups that were only 6 weeks old. Long story short, my Mom went and got two of the pups and my daughter took one of them and my hubby and I took the other one. All we knew for sure is they were part chihuahua. Upon taking Maggy May to my vet for the first time and actually up until now, he swore she was chihuahua and yorkie, but today when he seen her, he said, WOW, I don't think she's got any yorkie in her after all, look at those ears, they really give it away, she's chihuahua and Pappillion:eek: And here I've been posting at YT all this time thinking she was part Yorkie:( I'm very sorry ladies, I really didn't know she wasn't part yorkie, I was going by what our vet said because the ladies where Maggy May came from had 28 dogs inside and 25 outside and had no clue what the father was. So, it is with regret that I sadly have to say, Maggy May is not part yorkie and it really stinks cause I've grown to love it here at YT and have met some very wonderful ladies. I feel it's only fair that I leave YT and try and find a forum for what she is, I just feel like such an idiot for posting all this time and thinking she was really part yorkie. Does anyone know what you even call a pup that is part chihuahua and pappillion? And sadly, does anyone know of any good forums for this breed of puppy?

aww..she's adorable no matter what breed she is! Don't you dare leave on account of that we cherish everyone that's apart of this site...and no matter what all of them are our babies..it matters not what breed she is..and we're glad to have you here and wish you would stay!! I'm glad your little one is feeling better and that she will soon be on her way to being a healthy furbutt! :) She's awfully cute and at one time I seriously thought about getting a papillon (sp) with their beautiful little butterfly ears...

Oh no don't leave because your baby isn't part Yorkie. YT is about more than that it's about community and love for our furr butts..of all breeds!

I hope Maggy May gets better, what a good Mommy you are. You should stay on this site though, I have 2 chihuahuas too! Many people have different breeds in addition to their yorkies, so you still could learn something!:)

I know hes a vet and all but just because he said shes not part yorkie you never know she could be! Please dont leave because of that!

I certainly hope you don't feel you should leave because you don't have a yorkie. We are all dog lovers. I for one wouldn't like it if I felt like we made someone feel they couldn't participate because they don't have a yorkie!

Awe, you gals are the BEST EVER!!! I didn't know if Maggy May and I would be allowed to stay on here at Yorkie Talk with just finding out she's not part Yorkie, I thought she had to be at least part Yorkie to be here. I'm so HAPPPPY that we're still allowed to be here, WOOOWHOOO, boy am I relieved, cause I really do feel at home here and just love it, there's SO MUCH wonderful info here and the ladies are so kind and carring. I've been to other forums and I'm quite picky as to where I hang out at, it's gotta "feel right" to me or I don't stick around. Of course I'll post more pics here for you, I know we're supposed to post them in the pic area of the forum, but since it was requested here on this threat, I hopes it's ok that I post them here. Oh, I also forgot to mention that I picked up some toothpaste for her today, it came with one of those things you put over your finger and brush there teeth with. Needless to say, I'm not gonna be able to use that, her mouth is so tiny and trying to get the whole thing in there looks a bit uncomfy for her her, so, the vet said I can use the baby toothbrush I have here at home. Also, she weighs 4 pounds 2 ounces now, she's getting to be a big girlie, well compared to her being just 1 pound 4 ounces when she came to us. She's 5 months and two days old now, I wonder how much she'll way full grown.... I put the goodwinol on her face today when we got home and don't you know the lil brat ran straight to her couch and shoved her face into it and rubbed it all around until the medicine was all off! GRRR! I took her couch up when I seen what she was doing, so then she ran into her kennel on her cushion bed and rubbed her face around on that! When I took her out of her kennel and shut the door, she ran to the run in my room and started whipping it on that!! My goodness is she resourceful or what?! So, tomorrow when I put the med on her again, I'll be sure and pick up her couch, close her kennel door and take my rug up, LOL, boy she sure keeps me on my toes I'll tell ya, lol. So what do you all think after seeing the pics of her? You think she's got any yorkie in there somewhere or do you think the vet is correct and she's part chihauhau and papillion?
