Oh my Gosh, What did I do?? I know that I'm stupid, you don't have to tell me that. You probably all know by now that my Bell had three puppies 4 weeks ago. Wanting to make sure that, they all had good secure homes, I have place a few internet ads. One here, one on petfind, and the last one on petsell.com I don't think I'm asking a lot of money (750.00), I think thats fairly reasonable. Anyway, I went to read my email today and there are a lot of emails from these people who claim to be interested in my puppies. I'm sure they are scams as some of the things they are asking me are crazy. But the worst part is they want me to ship overseas. :( And I would never do that. What do you think these people really want?? It can't be my puppies, even though I think there wonderful, I doubt people would go through all this trouble to have one of MY YORKIES.. |
ads I have wonder about this myself. I had a person ask me to ship to France. Don't you think it would be simpler to buy a dog in France?..or take the ferry/chunnel to England? |
Be Aware! I would advise not to answer those emails. Last year, we were trying to sell a vehicle online, and almost every reply we received was from someone in a different country wanting to send us a check for more than the amount of the sale price. They always had some "good" excuse why it was more than the sale price; like it was a money order or something they couldn't cancel. They said they were working with an agent who would pick up the vehicle and they would like a refund of the excess money. We even had a few of these individuals call us. It was almost harrassment. A lot of the emails had the same story and same ridiculous questions. Be aware!! |
Wow!! is it possiable that they might be sending you fake checks, if you were going to sell to them. or because you aren't asking that much, they aren't going to the best homes in the world? you aren't stupid for posting on the internet, a lot of people do that, but i think i would stay away from them. |
Oh, and by the way, placing an ad online is not a stupid thing, so don't feel bad about it. I can't believe there are so many that just want to scam people. I did hear that some people had been caught doing the type of scam we were dealing with. They were in the US (not from another country as they had said,) and had several people involved with sending emails, picking up the items on sale, etc. So I guess it's big business. I doubt I will ever place an online ad again; unless it is on a site like YT where you are somewhat familar with the people your dealing with. It's pretty sad that there are so many dishonest people. |
most of the overseas offers are fraud, most offer more money than youre asking, or say its for their sons birthday and will be sending a cashiers check with their representitive, or will buy your entire litter. Just be careful DONT ACCEPT cashiers checks. I accept checks but dont ship or release until the funds have cleared. |
Hi.. It's a scam block them on your email... If you check scams on internet pets you will see it.. They want to send you more money than what you sell the dogs for then you send them the balance and guess what? The bank draft isn't any good and you've sent them the balance.. No, this has been going on a long time.. Rosie |
Thanks everyone, I don't feel as stupid now! :( But everthing you guys mentioned is what they said in their emails.. I did write two of the five back, but the first question I asked was "what are you planing to do with my puppies?? Because I won't sell them to JUST ANYONE" I don't think I'll reply to any more of the ones that are out of the county. And whats the deal with certified checks?? I thought CERTIFIED meant that the bank says the money is there!! Anyways.. I rather deal with people in person, that way I get to met the people and decide if they are the right family for my pups. ;) |
If I were you, I would post that you do NOT SHIP OVERSEAS. Or via airplane for that matter. That way you can try to keep them local. My Chi breeder posts that directly on her site. If it wasn't for my friend's husband who is a cross-country truck driver, I wouldn't have my pups!! I am in CA and she is in OK. And on the buyer side, it was quite WEIRD to not be able to see the pups BEFORE I purchased them. I got very LUCKY with both my chi's. I saw my friend's first (the wife of the trucker) and what a good disposition her's had; so I went with it. In regards to another posting in this thread, my friend JUST sold his truck to an agent who was shipping it overseas to Germany. So though it can and probably maybe a scam, it does happen. The problem is there are so many scams, its hard to see the true inquiries. Too many people crying wolf! |
I would definitly add on your add that you will not ship over seas and all funds must clear before pup is released. In fact I would agree with saragp Tell people you will not ship your puppies that way you will have a chance to meet who your puppies go to. :) Good luck to you!!!!! |
I have an email into the pet sell website, I can not figure out how to change it. So as soon as I hear from them I will definitly change the information to I do not ship my pets Thanks guys!! ;) |
Funny u should bring this up I just read an ad on a waverunner someone was buying and it was from germany the person check the vin# with DMV cuz he sent the person money for it and guess what??????? No such vin# so that person was out of luck and money.. I wanted to sell my waverunners on there but don't know if I should or just put them in the newpaper... |
You are not stupid at all. It is just sad that so many people will try to scam another. I agreed you should add to your ad that you will not ship out of the country. Good luck finding your pups new home. |
Don't ship your babies that far! |
I think this is another example of where the "puppy escrow" would work well. I agree that you shouldn't ship overseas, but even to ship within our country can be scary for the buyer and the seller. There was an article in our local paper about that scam artist here in San Diego, Elizabeth Davis. People were fooled into wiring funds to her. If they had insisted on the "puppy escrow" they would have known as soon as she refused that she was a fraud. |
