AKC vs ACA??? Im not really sure what the difference is between these two reg. I mean other than the obvious, all my dogs have always been AKC reg but is ACA as good?? I was looking at a pup that I found out was ACA reg, now if the sire is AKC and the dam is ACA reg how does that work for the pup?? Do you get a choice of what reg u want?? Or does it really matter? Im so coooonnnfffuuussseeedddd!!! :confused: |

There are a couple people on here that raise ACA Yorkies, and I am not in any way saying they have garbage dogs, but that registry has not been around for long. Since the internet came along, a lot of little dog registries popped up, and this is one of them. If you just check out their website, compared to AKC's you'll immediately change your mind about buying an ACA puppy just based on the organization - www.acacanines.com. Ok, so how does that effect the puppy if the sire is AKC and the dam is ACA?? Can the pup be registered with AKC?? |
No it can NOT be reg with AKC. Almost anyone can get a dog reg with ACA or any of the others that are popping up. AKC has strict standards, but if you aren't looking for a show quality dog it really doesn't matter so much |

While some important points have been made here, it is also worth noting that many breeders have begun to turn away from AKC because of the increase in fees, fees, and more fees. Moreover, having AKC registration in itself does not guarantee the health or lineage of your dog. In the long run, a good relationship with a reputable breeder is much more valuable than a particular registry. I would never base my decision on registry alone. Again, not trying to take away from the good points already made here. Just adding additional info. :) |

I didn't read the entire thing through, but I believe it is talking about the ACA we're talking about. I'm just in a hurry and didn't have time!! :D |
