Help! Piper is eating my cupboards. The title says it all. Yesterday she started chewing on my kitchen cupboards. At first I was going to put lemon juice on them but she liked that so I put vinegar on them. Any other suggestions? She has lots of chew toys and she chews them all but she likes to chew everything! My cupboards aren't fancy by any means and I'd like to replace them some day but not anytime soon. Any suggestions appreciated! TIA. |
Tabasco??? :idontknow oh dont they sell something called bitter apple at the pet store? |
I was just going to say biter apple! good luck, little turkeys like to chew on anything they can get their mouths on! LOL |
I read on here about clear deoderant, regan was shredding her pee pads to bits and knawing on the plastic box. I tried bitter apple & the spray from walmart & it did nothing, I did just a swipe around the corners of the pee pad & the front of the box & (knock on wood) she hasn't done it anymore maybe try doing that & see |
Bitter Apple works for my chompers,, but you have to keep it fresh to stop them when they are really persistent,,,and soak it,,not just spray lightly once:thumbup: |
Tessa used to chew on the corners of my baseboards! I used tabasco sauce in conjunction with training. It only took a few days and she was chewing her rawhides instead.:) |
Tucker loved the taste of bitter apple:rolleyes: But clear, roll on deodorant works wonders. It's also important that you don't let her out of your site, not for a minute. That way you can correct her immediately and she will learn. Just say NO in a firm (don't yell) voice and pick her up. Give her a chew toy. She'll learn, she really will! Good luck. |
Good Grief, and I thought Bella was the only one:eek: She did outgrow this though. Before she did, she chewed a hole in the sheetrock in the hallway!! @ first I thought my husband had bumped something against it....blaming him...haha. Really weird thing. She also chewed corners of baseboard and cabinet in kitchen!! |
Mine tried to eat the wall into the sheetrock in the yorkie room so we had to put white paneling up across the bottom 1/4 of the wall. The only thing I can suggest is bitter apple. It didn't work well for me (I used it for a wood dog house with a balcony). If they open it and then chew, you can babyproof it with with items form ToysRUs or Walmart baby section. |
Bitter apple worked us, but may I also suggest bully sticks and other chew toys; they are teething and need things to chew. |

Greta does not chew anything up now, there was a time when she was chewing a wooden chair in the living room. My uncle is a vet, he told me to use vinegar, they don't like the taste. I also got her new toys, in smaller pet stores you can find Merrick's Flossies spiral chews or Bully Sticks, Greta loves them. Good Luck! |
