Our Ally Runs and Not Obeys To Come Back Our little Ally is ten months old and she has a tendency to run anytime she is not on a leash. She sometimes sneaks out the back door and we go chasing after her wherever she decides to run. She has no idea what to obey is when she is running like that. My question to you all is – do your puppies run like that? How are you able to coax them back to you once they start running? The only way we are able to keep her close outdoors is to have her on a leash. Are we overacting or will she grow out of this? I would really appreciate you comments and suggestions. Tell me how you handle a situation as I have described it. I am scared to death that Ally will sneak off and run away of worse get hit by a car if she makes it to the street. |
Well I dont know if she'll grow out of it because, Meeko is only 5 months. But, Meeko has gotten out of the door a few times. Before he makes it down the steps I try to make a loud noise, to get his attention, and going running back inside behind the door, holding it open. I stomp my feet and yell his name in a happy tone as I run in too. He thinks i'm playing with him and comes running after me and I shut the door quickly. If you run after them, they think you're playing and will run away soo you can't catch them. Good luck, i hope she doesn't sneak out anymore tho! I'll be checking back to see if others have different ways to get their babies back in. |
my Hopey AND Tootie do this! I have worked with them, since BIRTH, but neither of the little hard heads get it... the only way I can get them to come back is if I trick them into it, by running away from them to make them run to me... Hope runs out of fear if someone comes too close to her! I am taking her to "socializing" class starting on the 15th... I never let them outside without leash, even if I can let their leash fall, they are still on leash at all times... Good Luck! sometimes they are just a little head strong. |
