Yorkie Fostering Help! Hello Everyone, I need information/advice about Yorkie fostering. I have owned three yorkies, all of which lived well into their late teens and would currently like to foster. Here are my questions: -How long does one usually foster a dog? -Are the vet services paid for by the rescue group? And any other information you can give me!!! Thanks, Sue P:animal36 |
Welcome to YT!!!!I don't know anthing about fostering but I know there are some on there that do so I'm bumping this up for ya. Good luck! |
thank you!! hopefully I will not get lost in the list.:aimeeyork |
Good questions. I have wondered that myself. I cannot take on another furbaby financially but wondered if Fostering the Rescue paid for vet bills. I wouldn't mind small vet bills but large ones I couldn't take on. Hopefully somone who knows will respond |
That's great that you are looking into fostering. Gingergirlsmom on here, Judy, foster's. I'm sure she would be able to answer your questions. She's a really nice person. |
Great! Thank You! You know, I truly want to give back to the dogs that have made me so happy all of my life. |
Each reputable rescue does it differently. Some let you go to their vet and charge for the services, some you pay and the rescue reimburses you and some you pay as the rescue does not have a lot of $$$. In terms of length of fostering again it is up to the individual rescue. The one I was involved with we didn't even try to place the dog for at least 30 days so we could evaluate the dog and make sure it was healthy both physically and mentally. Some will move them through the system without doing any of that. My suggestion would be to contact a local rescue and talk/email them to answer some of your questions. |
