Sawyer way to rough! Hi all. Have any of you had trouble getting your furfaces to play a little more gentle with a new puppy? Sawyer is not jealous of the pup, and the puppy wants to play with him; but Sawyer is so wild!! He hurts Darby with his roughness. He strikes out with his paw to get Darby to play, but he hurts him when he does that. Sawyer only weighs 5 pounds, so it isn't like he is a great Dane, but Darby weighs a little over two pounds, so those head strikes push his head down to the floor. Cliff says it will just take time, and Darby will grow. I just hate keeping him in the xpen so much instead of letting him explore. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks Guys, you are the best:) |
Supervised playing ,no doubt they puppy will stand up for himself a little at a time. I would just use a crate when your out to make sure he is safe. I'm sure Saywer is just getting a bit over excited and does not mean to harm him. |
I haven't had any experiences with Madeleine playing with a dog smaller than her but I wanted to bump this up so other people can give you some advice!!! :) |
I have the opposite problem, Roxie m y3 lb puppy plays too rough with Cali who is 3 and 5 1/2 lbs. Cali's been a sickly dog and very quiet and Roxie and Pixie will gang up on her and play to rough. So I will sperate them for awhile and calm Roxie down. But sometimes Cali will go right back down to them so I guess she doesn't mind. I would just supervise and spereate them when it gets too rough. |
My Sassy is 4.5 pounds. She does like to play with puppies. We 'babysat' one for about a week. She wanted to play with it but also 'laid down the law'....That's MY bed you are in!" and promptly got that baby and slung her right out of that bed! Other than that she was really good.:) |
