New to YT! Hi all :waving:: so I came across this site while searching for cruelty-free breeders. I loved what everyone had to say and the love for their pups so I had to join! currently I dont have a yorkie at all but am searching for a good buy without compromising the health of my dog. I've had a german shepard and Dalmatian when I was younger but would really like one smaller. Either way, I will turn to you guys for support and info since I'm kinda clueless Thanks! veggie |
Welcome!!! This is a great place!! Yorkies are the best. I have 3 now and have had 6 altogether thru the years |
Welcome to YT!! :wavey: This is a really cool place to hang! And interesting user name - what's the story behind that? Healthy eater or gardner or loves the kid show Veggie Tales? :D |
:welcome4: It's good to have you. The YTCA (.org) is the best place to start. They list breeder there and are held to a standard. They adhere to the code of ethics and conduct and are in good standing with our breed's parent club, ytca. |
Welcome to YT!!! |
Welcome to YT!! Glad to have you join us! |
Thanks all, As for the name, I'm a vegetarian (however I do eat fish). I am going to the ATCA website now. Thanks for the advice! |
Hi!! Hope you love YT!!! It's pretty KOOL here!!!:) |
Well, Veggiequeen, you are welcome here anytime. We're a pretty friendly and informative group.;) |
Hey there Veggie. Welcome to YT. I commend you for looking for a crulty free breeder. I'm sure you already know this but you want to avoid internet sales. It's easy for a puppymill or byb to hide behind email etc. Also, don't be afraid to google your breeder and where they are from and see if anything pulls up. If you search puppymils I've posted a list of those investigated and it's state by state. There are many more then what was listed but atleast that will give you the heads up about some. Also, as you know I'm sure please stay away from pet stores. Their dogs are bought from puppymills. Even if the pup appears healthy it can later have genetic problems but more then that the parents of these puppies suffer beyond what you can imagine. And, you want to avoid breeders that breed more then one breed. If you see them breeding many breeds that is a big warning to stay away. I'm not sure what else I can offer except welcome and if I can help in anyway, please let me know. Oh and you can also try www.petfinder.com. You'd be surprised that rescues do get full Yorkie pups and if you are open the the "Designer dog" or as I prefer to call them mixed up pups you will find many up for adoption. Good Luck. Elaine |
Hi and welcome to YT!:) |
Hi!!! Welcome to YT -- this is a great place to get an education on everything yorkie!! Good for you for doing your research first. Perhaps you'll even find your new bundle of fur from one of the breeders here or one of those needing rescued |
Thanks Elaine! Great info. As for the pet stores, I did some research on the puppy mills and was so upset. My boyfriend and I just passed a pet shop last week and saw these gorgeous Yorkies in the window. He asked the price out of curiosity and we couldnt believe it....$2000!!!! Thanks for the welcomes! I am looking in other threads....this is awesome! |
