top knots How often does your Yorkie take their bows out? Should I worry about leaving mine alone with her hair in a bow? |
I never leave Tricksie alone with bows in and always take them out when we go to bed. |
1 Attachment(s) I leave Toto's top knot up all of the time. I use a baby chennile band that doesn't cut his hair. Most days I only have to put it up once unless he gets to playing and rubs it out. :D |

You can't see it that good from this pic, but it flops backwards or forward, does not stand up. |
Toto's is quite a bit longer now also. I try to keep it trimmed some so that it doesn't fall back over his eyes. I just love the top knots. ;) |
I take Lacy's topknot down before bedtime and put it back up in the morning |
top knots 2 Attachment(s) I trimmed Tricksie's. Her hair is thick but thin on the top. |
Think I will put my spiking glue on it so that it will stand up. |
My little Cordell's hair is so fine and wispy, that it just doesn't want to stay up in a topknot. I use a tiny rubber band, but can't wait till it gets to where I can use a chenille band like Toto! He still has some that needs to grow out where it's been cut before.... |
This subject I just talked about on my update of my baby Peanut. Short version he got really sick and I came close to it not turning out so good because he got a hold of some fishing line. It is a long story but he is doing great I posted today how great he is doing. But I did let everyone know what the vet told me he sees all the time with our kind of dogs. They have eaten the top knots we use. He said most are made out of plastic and cannot be picked up by x-ray. Even if they are small if they have any kind of stretch in them it could be really bad. It catches small bits but stretches to catch more and by the time you see the back up and gases, it is bad. Peanut doesn’t really like to wear them but I thought about this when he told me this and thought I would do some research. Question here... you know how they make dissolvable stitches. I believe they work and dissolve when they get wet more and more. If top knot bands could be made of a fiber like that it has to be good? Anyway just wanted everyone to know and please be careful . |
That's a good idea! Dissolvable topknot bands...... Cordy is never alone while his is in, and he's such a lap puppy that we don't have to worry about him running off and taking it out! LOL! I take it down before bed too, and make sure there aren't any "left overs" where it was in his hair. I do like that idea, though! |

Tessa's hair still isn't really that long but I usually only put a bow in when we are going out visiting. Other than that, she will either try and rub it out or it will come out on it's own. I use the latex elastics that I get from the orthodontist which are usually used for braces.:) |
I take everything out of her hair when I am not with her. |
