Attn: Bjh-----i'm Mad !!!!!!! How dare you - Bjh - put the lives of dogs in danger with your false statements. Heartworms DO NOT die on their own. When you find out your dog has HW's it needs to be treated as soon as possible. If not, your pet WILL die. There are cases of dogs dying DURING treatment. Not because of the treatment. If you do not catch the heartworms in an early stage and they have had it for awhile, the dogs chances of survival is greatly diminished. Get your facts straight before you go preaching to people who might take your advice. (God forbid) Southeast Texas is the worst place to not give HW Prevenitive. Talk to your vet before listening to BJH....... |

I agree....there is a proper way to defend your statements Ouch...... Not a good way to voice an opinion..... We don't do things that way here.....we are more respectful. |
I have nothing to say about this matter but the OP is referring to the following thread.(For those that wanted to know what thread OP was talking about) Read post #25 http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=123882 |

Bravo BJH on a mature, thought out, and reasonable answer to this ridiculous attack. |

Admin, please close this thread. |
Oh my! We all come here for information. Most of us here do tons of research before we do things for our babies! We ask for advice, but we still do research. Everyone here has a right to post their opinions or research results without fearing they will be attacked or singled out. If I told you guys the sky was a rainbow swirl today I bet you would go check it out for yourselves! Doesnt mean I was seeing it the way you would! I do not believe BJH was instructing anyone not to protect their babies. I believe she was just providing her findings period. the end. |

I give BJH credit for even answering.... I have never seen such a personal attack With it in the title no less. There is nothing wrong with bringing up new things. She never told US to do it... |

wow!!!  |
I'm sure OP is very emotional and is entitled to her opinion also. When I was younger I had a GSD with heartworms, at deaths door. He received medical treatment and was absolutely fine afterwards. But with the heartworms before treatment, I didn't think he'd make it through the night. So when I see a post like this I have to think that this person may have been through the same thing, or worse. In the thread referred to, lurkers must be considered. There are many well intentioned people trying to learn. There may be some that want to save money and not buy heartworms preventatives anyway. But it really is up to the individual to research and not go by one post. I'm in Florida...mosquitos are awful and they do get in my house sometimes when the doors open. I don't believe heartworms die on their own (I didn't read that opinion on the thread it may have been in one of the links). They may die after they kill a dog. Not even after reading a website (or 100) about it would I believe it. Thank goodness we have treatment, but I'm also thankful for the preventative. JMO |
I think that all of us who live in the south know about heartworms, in one form of another, that being said I live in swamp state of Mississippi, so yes all 4 of my dogs are on heartworm med. I don't like giving it to them but I think it's the right thing to do. |

My friend's husband was a chiropractor and they didn't give their dog heartworm pills because they said that they would kill them. Their dog died at 7 from heartworms. |
