Greenies? Hello, me again with another question. I tried ot post this before but it didn't work, so if it appears twice sorry! Just ignore it lol. Anyways, I was wondering what Greenies are? I keep hearing about them but I don't know what they are, or what they do? Can Yorkies have them? |
My vet said they were o.k. She also reccomended the Nyla bone (they come in flavors). Nikki loves her Greenie, but doesn't go as crazy for the Nyla bone. I take it away from her when it gets small. |
Greenies are wonderful. They help with bad breath and to clean their teeth. they are like a a regular bone but green and they are like rawhide bones but they can eat them faster, so they don't last as long. Charlie loves his greenies he won't stop chewing until they are all gone. Hope this helps! |
http://www.greenies.com/html/index.html They are shaped into small "green" toothbrushes in case you are wondering. Easily found at your local pet store. |
Mac and Mellie go nuts over there greenies. :D Especially helps Mac for such a little guy he sometimes gets what I call awful fish breath. |
1 Attachment(s) Lexi loves greenies, and for awhile to much. She use to be really aggressive if you touched them. I broke her of that real quick(with the help of the wonderful members here on YT). I would let her have a green while she was on my lap and once in awhile I would say "give it to mommy" and take it. I would then praise her for being good and give it back. Anyway, here is a picture |
Gracie and Sammie love them, but they throw them up... |
I personally don't give greenies because of the horror stoies I have heard about them..even from fellow YTers...here are some tip if you do decide to feed them http://petplace.netscape.com/article...asp?artID=5536 |
Bailey luvs em... I have been buying them at Target, I have noticed, it does change his poop  ... but I guess thats ok. |
Neither of my dogs like greenies. I might buy some and try them again but the last time they just left them. |
My pup loves them but I don't leave her alone with them and I take it away if it is getting too small. Sometimes I use them to get her to sit in my lap. I hold on to one end and she lays in my lap and chews on the other end. It's a nice way to get to hold a busy puppy. |
Bridget Loves them, I mean LOVES them. Actully it was funny becasue I know someone here refered to greenies as puppy crack, and that is true, they act like they are crack. Bridget goes crazy if she even sees the bag...LOL, I also take mine away when they get small, and never let her have them while she is alone. |
Mine go nuts for them. I rarely give them Greenies because it makes Tuffy agressive and they tend to upset Pixie's stomach. Only on very rare occasions do they ever get them.. usually when I need them to be distracted. I prefer the non-edible type things for their teeth and because it won't upset their tummies. |

1 Attachment(s) my lucky boy loves greenies :D . at 1st i would give him the smallest one once a day but now i've cut them down to about 2 a week.he goes nuts jumping up and down. trying to get his nose in the bag before i have a chance to pull one out. i have a ???? what size greenies is good for yorkies the ones that looks like chip pieces or the small whole bone? just curious of what other out there use. |
Bruce loves greenies, but you have to be careful to make sure they are safe! (1) run your fingers over the greenie to make sure there are no loose slivers on them, (2) make sure they dog stays in the room with you while you are feeding it in case of choking, (3) if you are feeding anything like Greenies or nylabones be sure you know how to do the heimlich manuever for doggies...Here is how you do it: remember if your baby is ever choking first sweep their mouth with your fingers, if that does not work do this remembering the objective is to compress the lower chest forcibly to raise air pressure inside the chest to blow the foreign material out of the throat or the larynx. 1. Place dog on its side on a hard surface 2. Place both hands behind the last rib and press down quickly and firmly - release immediately and repeat rapidly several times. -Try to direct the force of your hands slightly forward - this will make your efforts more effective 3. gently open their mouth and sweep it out to retrieve the material they were chocking on 4. watch carefully to make sure they begin breathing normally 5. Immediately contact your vet and let them know what happened! |

Thats a great analogy, Dennis also goes nuts for them! I think he prefers the bits to the bone though. I use them as treats for after he gets a bath and brushed among other things. |
Gucci doesnt like the greenies. I bought a bag and I still have some around. I keep finding them and I just throw them away. I have also got her Nylabone and she did chew on them at the beginning but she lost interest. |
:D my Pudge loves greenies, I take it away from him when it get smaller. And as what other YT said....it keeps him busy for a while |
