Top Knot options Do you have to use the rubberband bows? My fingers seem so big and awkward trying to put that tiny little rubberband on her hair, which is not very long yet. If it okay to use a baby barrette with velcro? Seashell |
I think that would be fine. Just make sure she can't eat or choke or it. :D |
I've tried every hair thing known to man with little success. The rubber bands work but the longer they are in, the more tangled Chloe's hair gets, and Lacey's hair is so fine and thin a band does not work. The little kid hair clips that have "teeth" work for Chloe but I caught her biting Lacey's barrette out of her hair inorder to chew on it. So, now Lacey is topnot deficient, I'm thinking a little hairspray might hold it down until it grows out. The next think I'm going to try is putting the band in and then a bow separately. Hopefully that will work. I hate seeing their hair in their eyes. |

There are Laytex Bands that work really well but they are TINY so you'd probably have trouble with those too - I use scrunchies alot - but with puppies - you have to be very careful they don't chew on one - they can unravel - so it's just a matter of finding something that works for YOU and that you can take on and off easily - Bows are tricky - but....the more you do it - the better you'll get at it - |
Can anyone post pics of the options they are talking abput. I am at a loss for the different things. Are the bands like ones used on braces? |

I've been using those baby claw clips on Bell's topknot lately. It seems to be working out great. When it gets a little messing, its easy to fix it :p |
I use the little Laytex Bands, they work great, stay in , and are so easy to get out. |
I use the little latex bands, too. I got 150 of them in a package for little babies at Claire's Boutique. I have trouble getting them out without pulling my dog's hair, but they're cheap and there are so many of them, that I just cut them out. My two dogs wrestle alot, though, and they always have topknots that are lopsided!! I always take down their topknots at night. |
Latex bands are the best to prevent against breakage too. That is what most people (including myself) use of the back of bows for topknots. They stay best when they are smaller...you only have to wrap them around 4 times or so to make them stay. You can use barettes and stuff too. We used stuff from the baby section of Target on Linus until his hair got a little longer and he could tolerate daily grooming! ;) |
Latex bands are the best because they do not stick to the hair and therefore cause less breakage. There is also a pair of topknot scissors that are helpful in cutting the band out without cutting the hair. One side of the scissor has a small hook on the end for picking up the band and then you cut as with a normal scissor. |
Thank you all for the tips. I have use bands on Gucci's hair but sometimes it gets all tangle. I thought they were latex. I will have to look around for those. |
