PeePee hair It looks like the hair on my male dogs peepee area is getting long and is irritating him. can i shave that area or clip it? |
i trim it, but be very careful.. i mean very careful... i still cant get close enough but i try my best.. |
Are you referring to the area around the penis? If so leave about of 1 to 1 1/2 inches long. This directs the urine to the ground and eliminates dribbles. What do you mean "looks like it irritates him"? |
I take the boys to the groomer every other month for pee pee and poopy hair trims. |
My groomer always takes all the hair off the weenie....I think she must shave it. And In between, I clip it to keep it as short as I can. I can tell a big difference with new male who hasn't had his shaved and the hair is longer...if you don't wipe them right afterward, the urine can dry on the hair and they smell. So I did try clipping as much as I could off of him too....you just have to be really careful. |
I usually shave the end of Rylie's penis and the bottom part of his chest with a #10 blade. |
I hate to argue with everyone, but I'm very sure you're are suppose to leave 1 to 1 1/2 inches of hair to direct the urine stream to the ground. I know show breeders do this, it keep urine off the rest of the coat. |
This thread describes what happens when you cut the hair too short. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ht=peeing+hair |
OH NO! i cut it last night to about 1/3 of an inch! Hope that grows back quick! |

Lol :D , this thread has had me doubled up laughing. I don't think Max would like me to cut his hair, he enjoys being cleaned with his baby wipes lol. |
