Ears Hi...I was wondering when should a yorkie puppies ears start to stand up?? Do I need to tape them? I have no clue what to do in regards to this....please tell me what to do!! You will be greatly appreciated!!!:aimeeyork |
Some pups ears never stand up but if you go to the grooming section your sure to find a post i have the same problem but have came to realization that i cant tape right its not so easy and i love his floped top also you can search it on the search part .... ive been told they can flop while they are teething too hope this helps |
If you definitely want the ears to stand up (I was so mad when Kaba's stood up...hehe) then make sure and keep the hair trimmed around the ears. Also remember that during the time they are teething, the will come up and down (just something they do. at least from what I hear, Kaba's never did this). Kaba's one ear was flopped over until about 6 or 7 months and just one day stood up on its own. I never did any taping. (I'm against it, JMO) But the main thing is the hair, they say trim in a V shape around the ear. I'm sure in grooming there is a post on it. |

Izzie ears were floppy as well and then I shaved them. One ear would come and the other stay down and then last week I woke up and they were both standing up. They have been up for about a wk now but who knows if they will stay that way. I hope they do.:) I would try to shave them down if you can. |
see i have done everything i was told to try .... i even tried taping but im no good at that and im scared to try the molskin thing and they havent stood up how old is izzy ? Memphis will ne 6 months this month |

I don't believe in taping either. Suzy's ears stood up with a little encouragement. I kept the hair trimmed very short about half way down the ear. I did this with a pair of scissors, I didn't use a razor. Whilst playing with the ears can break the forming cartlidge, I gently massaged my pup's ears and that seemed to help. I've heard conflicting reports on this, so maybe do some reading up on it before you try. As she's still teething, they flop occasionally and I give them a little massage and their perk right back up. Good luck! Don't stress. It takes quite some time for them to stand up in some cases. |
Why do they flop when there teething. I mean what makes them do that? |

ears I have 13 week old girl and her ears are not up either! On pick-up day,the breeder told me they were up and just went down a few days before I got her. She assured me that they would go up in the next month or two and if not ,taping would be next. She also told me that they would go up and down during teething. At what age do these little guys start teething? |
