Is this an odd behavior? My new little (young, adult, un-neutered) male yorkie does something fairly frequently that I am not sure if it's normal or not. He will put his head down, his front legs stretched out in front of him on the floor with his butt up in the air....and he stays that way for a few minutes. Max does this type of posture too, but only occasionally and it's when he wants you to play with him. He doesn't hold it like that and his butt isn't usually up that high. Is this something that has to do with not being neutered yet? Or is it maybe a symptom of some physical problem? He doesn't seem to be in any type of distress when he does it. Or is it just a "thing" he does? It just is noticeable, at least to me (who's watching him like a hawk;) ). |
I would think that this posture is a sign of he wanting to play with you. Is his tail wagging a thousand miles per minute? What is his expression like? Excited? Whining? or Still? Is his eyes giving you a deathly stare? Does it have tears in it? Or is he giving you puppy dog eyes? Maybe his tummy hurts?? I usually do that when my tummy hurts, but that's just me. :D |
Madison does the same exact thing. I think its just one of those "things" they do! haha it is rather cute though!! |
YUP My Katie does it too waiting :) for me to play with her and her toys |
This is a dogs way of initiating play. They all do this. They're saying lets play!!:D |
yep, if the tails a-wagging. def. play... all my dogs held this pose when they stretched... my current furbutt does it every morning.... its part of her morning yoga routine! |
You're all wrong! He does this because the floor makes his willy cold! he he ... just kidding :P Next time he does it ... grunt at him and jerk your head forward a few times ... maybe slap your hands on the ground or your knees ... have some fun! |
:sidesplt: :sidesplt: :sidesplt: Mogli, you crack me up. :D |
OH you guys are all so great! But no, his tail isn't waggling..it's just straight up. I know it sounds like he wants to play but it's different. Max does that too but it's just .....different. He STAYS that way...for much longer than Max. He's almost frozen in time, LOL...I wish I had a video camera (but then he probably wouldn't do it) to show you. Max does this too, when he stretches...but he does his front legs first and then his back....but Madison only does it like when they want to play...only it's not a play cue. And ....we're NEVER very cold here and I think the floors feel like there's a heater in them, LOL. So it's not that either:D . I wonder if I take a video of it with my cellphone it will come out and I can post it. I'll try the next time he does it...It's almost like he's stretching, but he gets "stuck". I guess it is odd, LOL:confused: . |

And also....maybe that's why nobody's looking for him |

LP usually runs about $1500 or so a knee. But you know what you found him for a reason. |

Bentley does this all the time. Even when he is trying to play with something. I think it is normal. He is always laying and sitting in really odd positions. One of the great things about yorkies lol. |
What is a decent supplement to use for this? I've been thinking about getting something to add to Max's food just for good measure but there's so many different glucosamine/chondroiten fomulas out there...anyone use one that is simple to give/use and not outrageously expensive (remember...I have TWO dogs now, LOL:D ). I have to say that Madison doesn't seem to be in any discomfort or pain, so maybe it's just something that he does.....it's kind of cute, but I just want to make sure there's not something weird going on with him that I'm missing! Thanks you all! |
