Clothing help

Can anyone give me some advice on how to get Reeses to like clothes?? There are some things I can put on him and he is totally fine in them, but there are more things that I put on him that he acts like I am punishing him for something. He wont walk anywhere...he just creeps to his bed and gets in it and will not move a muscle until I take it off him. The things he will tolerate is usually tanks but thats about it. Other than that goodluck! Lol. He used to wear all kinds of stuff when he was little and it never even phased him. But as he gets older he likes less and less. Lol. He is only 2..he is still really young...IMO...so I am hoping to accomplish this successfully! :D
Any advice? Please! lol

Aww maybe he likes being an alfresco boy. What are you putting on that he hates?

Lou 03-31-2008 10:46 AM

I can't get Adie to wear a coat! She squirms right out of it. She learned last Fall, however, that wearing the dreaded sweater meant she got to go outside! Could you connect something he loves with wearing clothes?

:grin2: That's funny! I just had to keep putting the harnesses on mine. Once we started walking they forgot about them. They still are not big wearers of clothes inside unless it's chilly (and I like the house on the cool side) so they come off after we get home. Mine don't really like the actual harness style unless it's Chattiesmom's (silk) or the clothing style.

Lol...everything that aint a tank he doesnt like. Lol. I got him a harness from Chattiesmom and he likes it for the most part but some days he likes to play hard-headed and he wont like it. He used to love his pajamas..he doesnt like his new ones so much anymore (he grew outta the old ones), and then I have a bunch of just shirts that he doesnt like wearing. The only other thing he really likes is his auburn university sweater. He loves it! But bein in the south...it doesnt get cold enough for him to wear it a whole lot so for the rest of the year the only thing I can get him to tolerate is his 2 tanks. Lol. He likes to be nakie baby but I have soo many cute clothes I wish he would start wearing again. I would buy something and he will love it...a couple weeks later after wearing it a couple times...all of a sudden he wont like it anymore. Lol. I dont get it. Lol. Hes a stinker!

Awww ok then don't put them on him. He might love that sweater because it's broken in and comfy. Stick to the tanks and harness vests if you want to dress him up.

Joey's the same way. He likes tanks because they fit snugly, and don't get in his way. Linda of fufufashions, a member of YT made him a custom made jersey that fits him perfectly so he likes that as well. Here's her link: http://www.fufufashions.com/ in case your interested. I just think fit is really important and they don't like 'big" things.

Toppersmom 03-31-2008 11:40 AM

I totally understand what you are going through. I haven't found anything that Topper will tolerate. If I put something on him he will run through the house like a mad man and then hide under my bed!

Bizzymammabee 03-31-2008 11:41 AM

Zoey has gotten used to being dressed..when the weather is warm she can run a bit more au natural. The only problem I have with her is that the likes to look like a rastafarian and does her damndest to get her clips out.

Maybe that is one thing that he doesnt like...when I buy stuff from like Target or petco or whereever, with the exception of tanks since they dont have sleeves, the arms on shirts usually seem to be a little snug so I figured that was one thing he didnt like was the sleeves hugging his lil arms so I would buy the next size up just as long as it was only a little loose and not too too big so that the sleeves would be looser. Hmm...maybe I should try gettin things custom made for him...that might work better. Is there any other places you recommend that custom make clothes? Are the harness shirts that you can buy safe as far as not pushing on their trachea like a collar? I may try some of those for when I want to dress him up.

Thank you everyone for all your advice! If you got anymore advice...Im always open for suggestions at all times!! :p

I know it!! I feel so bad sometimes when he doesnt make an attempt to like the clothes or at least take them off and he just goes to his bed and pouts. I feel sooo mean. :( I have tried making dress up time happy treat time as well but he makes it hard to do that when he wont come to me to get the treat! lol

Bizzymammabee...I think we are a little opposite...Reeses doesnt like clothes where Zoey does, but Reeses will wear his lil hair clip (its not a bow just a lil flat clip) where Zoey wont. Lol. Lil stinkers!!

Zoey has learned I think that the clothes saves her from the elements when mamma takes her outside. Don't get me wrong some stuff if she can get them off she will get them off.

First time this winter I went to put her coat on she was like hells no and tried to get away but when the cold really hit her she started to appreciate that coat and would stand still while I put it on.
