scissors? Hi, hope everyone is having a great day, its damp and dreary here in pa today, I want sunshine. anyways my question is - jovies hair around her eyes is getting long and needs to be trimmed, what do you guys use, i have regular shears but am afraid I'll poke her eyes out, is there special scissor you use? thanks in advance. |
I personally don't cut any hair on my dogs at all. If you want to grow a coat you will have to persevere with the hair around their eyes. Once you cut it you might have a problem with it growin in right. On the other hand, if you are going to keep her in a puppy cut it might be ok to cut the hair around her eyes. I would leave it to the professionals though. |
I bought rounded scissors and I do trim the eyes... I hate when hair pokes them in the eye. Chewy was very hard... he would move all over. It took months to train him to hold still... Sadie never moves much and is easy. You can hold your dog by the chin hair... to hold it's head still. That is what I will do, or hold the back of his head... Either works with my dogs but they are not moving and used to me holding them this way. Point the scissors away from the eye... Not toward it. Go slow, and let your dog sniff first... Rub the scissors on their face closed a few times to show how it feels and let them realize it won't hurt... Best of luck! |
If you mean the hairs that are on the bridge of the nose I use the Wahl Stylique clippers. It has a tiny clipper head and I just trim the little hairs that poke my Baby in the eyes. I would be to afraid to put scissors near his eyes. I am planning on using scissors on the hair above his eyebrows that is now starting to flop down into his eyes though Here is a link to the clipper. http://www.pet-dog-cat-supply-store....681a0feadd7e76 |
