Just for the almighty $$$$$ these poor BABIES ARE SLAVES TO THESE BREEDERS. where is there heart!!!!!!! thanks kathy I have cross posted this info and will tell the world!!! |
I Cant Watch I WILL CRY ALL DAY AND NIGHT ITS SO SAD. I HOPE PEOPLE WHO DONT NO HOW BAD IT IS DO WATCH. THANK YOU OPRAH I HEAR SOMETHING ABOUT A BILL IN CONGRESS. THATS WHAT I NEED TO HEAR HOW DO WE STOP THIS:mad:    |
I'm so happy to see that Oprah is doing this show. Maybe all our letters to her helped. This will go a long way to get something done about the puppy mills. I will definitely be writing Oprah to thank her for caring. |
Good for you Oprah, It's about time too. This is a subject vey close to my heart as I work for a dog rescue and ive seen so many poor dogs that have come from these horrible places. Let's hope it's not just a one off though and they follow up on it to keep people aware of this horriffic thing that takes place on these poor defencless animals. |
This get's my blood boiling Maybe I'm just naive, but wouldn't it be great if Oprah could use her power and influence to finally get people motivated to put an end to it? My local vet has been fighting the local puppy mills for years without much help from the USDA's office or other officials. Unfortunately these people who run puppy mills have way to many "rights" that can't be "violated". NOBODY seems to care about the poor dogs, oh....they're just "creatures"!!!!  "What about starving children in 3rd World Countries???" That's the kind of reply I get whenever I bring up the topic of animal cruelty. It makes me sick, when people find excuses to turn their backs on animals because they feel that people-causes are more important.   Those animals need our protection because they are God's gifts to us...they keep us company and bring so much joy. :luvu: O.k. now I'm rambling...I just get so mad when it comes to this issue! I'll tape the show and I know I'll be crying all the way...this is one of the hardest things to watch but it doesn't mean we can ignore it! HOW CAN WE PUT AN END TO PUPPY MILLS???ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS OR KNOW OF PETITIONS OUT THERE? PLEASE POST IF YOU DO! |
It's on in Chicago, very sad having a hard time watching it. The Yorkies in the beginning were so cute. How tragic, hope the public wakes up. Gotta go commercial is over. |
I'm starting to watch it as of right now. It's about time someone decided to do something about this! |
It doesn't start here until 4 - I'm at work & trying to get out early so I can see it |

I saw it. It was so sad but very informative. I'm glad she did it for all those that don't know. I also cried when the video of Sophie was shown:( |
Just coming on here. |
I just finished watching the show. The entire show I was at the point of tears in my eyes, to all out crying - especially when they went to the shelter in Texas (you'll probably cry too when you see that segment). I'm glad that Oprah finally did a show on this, because I'm sure most of her viewers didn't even know such places existed. I was all ready planning on going to the United Against Puppy Mills fundraiser at the end of the month, now I hope this show will bring in more donations for them. |
I listened to the show on the way home from work, made me cry, and I still feel sooooooo sad. |
I am just now watching!! |

Here's the link for the fundraiser if anyone is interested. http://www.unitedagainstpuppymills.org/ruffin.html You can also make a donation online through PayPal. |
I just finished watching Oprah's program. It's a start but it needs to stay in the forefront. I just pray that she doesn't drop this and continues to have programs in the future. God's angels are the rescue people that go and buy these dogs freedom and work with them so they can be adopted. I have found my calling after we rescued our third yorkie. The ones that need the most help physically and emotionally are the babies I want in my life. I look at our little guy and for how ever much time he has here on earth he will never know suffering again. Work is far from over and until laws are changed in this country this will continue. As I said before we need to work at state levels to get the laws changed. Educate people for knowledge is power and possibly people making a different decision because of what they have learned.:animal-pa |
This was an awesome show. Very informative. Can anybody tell me why kennels are not watched closer by the government ot state inspectors? As is with being liscensed to care for children in your home and being subject to home inspections why are these breeders not being inspected ? Or are they but not often enough? it would seem to me these abused animals would be seen even if the kennels were inspected just yearly.. |

I saw it too! I cried my eyes out the whole show. It was very informative. I am so glad she did the show about puppymills, it really should reach a lot of people in US. This is just so heartbreaking how they treat animals! I really hope that those who kept on buying dogs from stores after seeing that would really change their mind. |
linsvs, There just aren't enough inspectors on either level, state or federal. And I do believe that it just isn't "top priority". The FDA in this country can't take care of us human beings let alone animals which falls under the USDA.:animal-pa |
While I found the footage of puppy mills very moving, what I found MOST moving was them showing actual dogs that were to put to sleep and the interview with the person from the shelter in Texas; so heartbreaking but hopefully (somewhat more) effective. |
Ok I cried from the Sophie tribute to the end. |
I have bought all of my dogs but one from pet stores, and I hate to think I was contributing to the problem...but I swear Mika watched the whole show with her little loving self, and I am glad I was able to get her out of this cycle.. But when I get ready to buy my Yorkie, I am going to depend on you guys to steer me in the right direction. |
YT family....may I make a suggestion,...it will only take a minute of your time.....I doubt oprah reads this forum...go to OPrah.com, join her community, and leave her your thanks/comments/suggestions for future action there. I know this is "home" so express yourself here among friends, but also place it where her staff will see it. I already am a member over there. |
follow up needed I also hope Oprah will do a follow up story and press the issues a little bit more. To let people know that buying from a pet store will continue to keep the millers in business is a good start, but also follow up to see if her story had any real impact on closing down pet stores. If they were not around to sell pups, then there would be no buyers for the millers stock, and they might choose another "crop" to make a living off of. I saw so many yorkies in that expose! Every time they showed one it took my breath away... Sue & Cricket |
