Nutrical? When I got Piper the breeder sent a tube of Nutrical and told me to give her a quarter of an inch 4 times a day. She is adjusting well, eating, drinking, peeing, pooping, sleeping, etc. Do I still need to be giving this to her that much? TIA. |
Sounds like Piper is doing very well. I would think that 4 times a day is a bit too much since she is eating and drinking well. It could cause a spike in her blood sugar level. How old is she and how big? Just make sure she gets her rest. Little ones can sometimes over-exert themselves but as far as the Nutrical I would back off from 4 times a day, maybe try twice daily and see how she does. Has she seen the vet yet? Barring any health issues, 4 times daily seems like too much. :aimeeyork :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :) |
I agree with what Woogie Man said. Have you had any problems with hypoglycemia? I would back off on the nutrical if you haven't. When I brought KaCee home, she was so tiny. She had a couple hypoglycemia episodes so we gave her a tiny dab of nutrical every morning and night. We also free fed her (we still do). |
this is way too much. i see people on here a lot that give it every day but I NEVER give my puppies or adult dogs Nutrical unless they are sick or not eating for some reason. it can cause them to have wild fluctations in their glucose level and even cause diabetes. |
Hi, She is 16 weeks and 3.8 lbs. She hasn't had any health issues with hypoglycemia (sp?) that I'm aware of. We also free feed. When we're not home she is in the kitchen with food, water, toys, a bed and newspapers. She sleeps in her crate in my bedroom all night without a peep. I have seen her go and sleep in her bed in the kitchen (when my lap isn't available). :) She's been to the vet for her wellness check and everything is good except for a cough she's had since I got her. The vet is treating her for kennel cough with antibiotics but it hasn't made any difference. The breeder mentioned canine influenza and I think it's probably that since she arrived with it and the medicine doesn't seem to be making a difference. She goes back to the vet today for her last set of boosters so I'll see what she (the vet) says. Thanks for all your help! |
