Everyone has scary dog stories We live on a very quiet street. There are only about 6 homes on the whole street and everyone pretty much keeps to themselves. We do have a pit across the street that likes to bark at Kaba but is never let out of the fenced in yard so for the most part I'm okay with him. (I do worry about him climbing the fence, I"ve heard too many stories). Unfortunately, two doors down has two yorkies. They have a fenced in yard for them but I think they let them out of the yard so they can go to the bathroom and they don't have to clean it up. Really ticks me off because they poop in MY yard and until recently, Kaba had issues with eating poop! Anyway, when we are outside with Kaba or even without her, they will run up and be very aggressive. They've come running up to us, teeth showing, growling and barking and it always scares the crap out of me. The last time they came around, Kaba was closer to them than me and they chased her a short distance. Of course, she came running towards me to protect her and they stopped short. I worry what they could do to her. Its really the one thats more aggressive than the other one and he/she's definitely a "teapot". Kaba is only 4 pounds and doesn't know what "mean" is. My husband gets the water hose out every time we see them and they try to attack us and he sprays them down. But it doesn't seem to do much really. Why can't I have peace in my own yard? And why can't they leave their dogs in their yard?! Seriously... |
have you spoken to your neighbors about their dogs getting out and attempting to attack yours? be cordial of course. if your not you'll look like a loon. heres my scary dog story...tho i think my dog might have been the scary one lol My 2nd shih tzu was a very headstrong tough lil man. Of course he thought he was a bull mastiff but the fact was he was all of a heaping 10-12lbs. He one day was just playing in our yard when my neighbors rotties came out (2 of em) barking at him. well Charlie had just about enough of it and he went CHARGING full speed at these dogs who had at least like 60lbs on him. well of course the rottie was wth is this runt doing and picked him up by the back and swished him about. i just about flipped but by the time i got there the deed had been done. and my lil charlie was slowly crawling over to me. :( we took him to the vet he just needed a lil cleaning up and TLC. needless to mention he NEVER did anything of the sort again!! best of luck to you with your situation. |

I really wish I could speak to them, but I know hardly any Japanese and they know NO english. It would be a challenging conversation to say the least. I guess its just the joys of living overseas... |
oh no! is there someone that could translate for you and maybe you could slip them a note in their mailbox since there is a language barrier? I don't think you should have to live in fear of their dogs |

Definitely do the note thing! I'm sure your neighbours don't even know it bothers you. |
This is a difficult situation...I'd use a translator too before something bad happens to your little guy. My recent scary story: Coco got aggressive with strange dogs during her pregnancy (she's calm again since pups born). We were visiting my granddaughter and opened her door to leave and her roommate's australian shepherd was laying on the front porch. Coco began barking and started chasing him -- he was running but she had him by the end of his tail and was hanging on for dear life. Kind of like the old tiger tail story. I was mortified as well as afraid for her. I yelled and she dropped the tail and came to me, thank goodness. |

My husband always tells me that if the dog goes for Kaba or me with teeth, don't be afraid to kick them. I could never do that. But it hasnt happened yet, so we will see I guess. |
