Hello everyone....Newbie here !!! 4 Attachment(s) Hi, We recently picked our first yorkie:) ....He`s a little over 4 months and very cute (my wife says adorable is more likely)........His name is Toby:animal36 ....He looks very healthy, active and eats a lot.....(Try to post some pics...;) ) The only thing that concerns us is that sometimes he makes a strange sound  (like a stuff nose), we took him to the vet and told us that he is 100% healthy and that is very common with small breeds like yorkies to have respiratory problems.....Could he be sick? cold maybe? Hope it`s not collapse trachea.....:( It doesn`t happen all the time, usually when is asleep and a couple of times during the day...... Any suggestions\tips are welcome.... Thank you... PS..Congratulations....very nice forum.....:D |
I think what you are talking about is a reverse sneeze. Mine do this sometimes. Especially if I have used air freshener or carpet cleaner. It could be kennel cough also, I would take him to the vet to be sure. |
Oh I am sorry now I see you did take him to vet. Watch what you are using around him.It will improve I am sure. |
Welcome to YT!! He's a Cutie!! sounds like reverse sneezing,, one of my girls does that,, when she is excited mostly:) |
Hello and welcome to YT. Your baby is toooo cute. Makes me want another one. LOL |
Welcome. What a cutie Toby is :) |
:wavey: Welcome to YT. |
Welcome, Toby is very cute!!!!;) |
congrats..Please have him checked again if he continues.. I had a pug that did this for years and I was told also it was a reverse sneeze.. He did this his whole 14 years of life and ended up dying of collapsed trachea..He was too old for the surgery. Sending positive thoughts your way.. |

Billi is 6 months old and when she sleep she sometimes makes a snuffling noise, I've noticed that its usually when she has her head pushed down the side of her cushion or up against my leg when shes on my lap.I think her nose is just a little blocked shes fine at other times, this may be whats happening to Toby. |
that seems like nothing to be concerned about..collapsed trachea sounds horrible like a goose honk.. this is the best way to explain it .. |
Good and bad news..... We had to take Toby to the ER...:( Around 6pm he threw up.....food mostly...... After that he`s been trying to vomit...mostly saliva.... So we took him to the vet, he took the x-rays and looks like its not collapsed tracheas.....:) But found out he has lots of gases in his tummy...... Don`t know if the food is giving him bad digestive symptoms.......Science diet small bytes for puppys.......or he recently had his shots on friday... How about Eukanuba? Any suggestions? Thanks everyone for your replies.... |
welcome to yt! he is definently a cutie! |
Hi and welcome to YT!:) |
AWWWWWWWWWWWW lookie him, look at those EARS!!!! |
My yorkies have always thrown up, once in a while but my vet said to give them a teaspoon or so of cottage cheese which I do before they go to bed and they do not vomit anymore unless they are really sick. This help the good bacteria in their intestines. |
