just read this. How terrible and tramatic to have something like this happen! you and your little girl are in my prayers. I agree that when you are up to it, you should try to find out where the lab came from - it's owners need to know what happened. Sandra |

Praying for your baby. |
Even though you have no leash law, you CAN do something! Find the dog, find the owner, take them to court, sue them. YOU could be the one person who stands and becomes the reason to get a leash law in your county! It seem like a really bitchy thing to do, but I've called the humane society multiple times on my own neighbors dogs for running loose. I figure if I'm being responsible and protecting my own dogs by keeping them on a leash or in the fenced in backyard, there is absolutely no reason that everyone else shouldn't be doing the same thing. |
All our thoughts and wishes are with you. My friends chihuahua was recently attacked just outside the gates of a dog park by a Border collie. Sometimes we assume that Labs and Border Collies etc. are "nice" breeds and don't attack other dogs. But we need to remember that they see our little ones as squeaky toys and sometimes they don't mean to hurt our dogs they just see them as toys. I am always mindful of any large dog and pick mine up so they can't grab them. We wish Jinny a speedy recovery! |
How awful and traumatic this must have been, always afraid of this situation, it can happen within a blink of an eye, years ago it happen to our first furbaby, he was a little Schnauzer named Shag. My hubby was planting a tree in the front lawn and Shag and I was watching I heard something and out of nowhere this Bull Terrier came charging at Shag, had him before I could reach down to pick him up! I just thank good that My hubby was there at the time and was able to get this dog off of our little one, he only had minor injuries, that took a few stiches to fix him up, but in the process of getting this dog to release Shag, Hubby substained a bite as well. Needless to say these people did pay the Vet bills as well as had to have their dog quarantined for 10 days. Hope your Little girl make a full and speedy recovery! |
Oh this just made my day to see that she made it through the night ok.:D When does she come home?? I just have not been able to get this poor little baby out of my mind. The more I think about it, the madder I get. That owner, whoever he is, what on earth is he thinking when he allows his vicious animal to roam without a leash???!! When you are over this horrible trauma, perhaps you should seek him out. Besides the humungous vet bill he should be paying, he needs to ensure that this will NEVER happen again. I mean my G_d!!! What if your baby is not the first one this beast has gone for???!!! Continued good wishes for the both of you. Big hugs,:hearts-en Lauren |

So very sorry to hear about your baby. I would go see her - even if it's difficult, it might help perk her up. |

How I missed this thread up until now, I don't know:confused: So first let me say how sorry I am about what happened. I too am so afraid to have my little ones near bigger dogs that we don't know. Went for a walk the other day and detoured when we came upon a yard with a mid-size dog in it with no leash. Ugh! I am so glad your girl was not killed and has made it so far through surgery and her first (or is it two) night(s). Now.....DEFINITELY go see her. I believe she will not be upset to see you, but happy and that seeing you will calm & soothe her knowing you are still here for her. She's been in an unfamiliar place and I think it would be very comforting to her to see the face she knows & loves. |
