Can someone please tell me? What is a red leg yorkie? What does one look like? I would love to see a pic if anyone has one. Thanks Mary |
? ? ? I have no clue ... I hope somebody knows on here ....... |
I "think" Tami (Ladyhawk) has one. You might pm her. Not sure it is her, tho. |
Miracles mom Hannah is a red leg... here is Miracle at 4 months old - JJ is her sire http://yorkiepassion.com/yorkiepassionnews1a.htm here is hannahs page http://yorkiepassion.com/hedy.htm |
Oh wow thanks guys so much help so quick :). I was asking because little Bella isn't really growing hair anymore and the hair on her legs have actually became shorter and darker red. I cannot believe how dark they have gotten and like i said the hair on them have gotten way shorter. Just wondering if she might have been one. Thanks! Mary |

generally their fur is a bit "coarse" feeling and tends to grow to a certain length and then kinda stop. For grooming they just need a tiny bit iof tidying up and are easy to keep brushed out. I have always heard that if you breed a red leg to a soft or cottony coated you will get a beautiful silk coated puppy. Your is sure a little doll though, whatever the coat. Sue & Cricket |

Sue & Cricket, Now that describes Bella hair to a T. Her hair is coarse feeling totally different than Sam or Max. Really it is different than anything i have ever felt before. And her hair did grow really good then just all of a sudden stopped growing. She is def. the easiest to keeped brushed it takes very little effort to keep her brushed out. And not to mention unlike my other 2 she always looks like she has just been brushed. I agree no matter what coat she is she is a total doll and we love her so much. Do you know if being a red leg can be what made her lighter color go dark red? It is beautiful but i am just super curious being that i have a true silk and one that just got left out of the hair gene all together (really short hair) and now Bella who might be a red-leg it is really pretty interesting to me :) Hugs Mary |

I would never recommend breeding a red leg to anything BUT a pure silk for many generations, breeding to a soft or cotton would only yield a lessor quality coat... JJ is pure silk for many generations...also be aware a redleg off spring does have the chance of reproducing a redleg...I would also never recommend infusing a redleg male into a breeding program because of this. |
No worries there because Bella isn't going to be bred :) But it is nice to know that info THANKS!!!! |
My Sissy definitely had a reg-legged mommy and has many of the same characteristics. Give me a minute and I'll take a naked photo to show you... |
3 Attachment(s) Here is Sissy. The first photo of a close-up of her head. You can see how little top knot hair she has and just how fine it it. This part of her is really silky. Attachment 206868 Here she is sitting and standing. This is the longest her hair has been, but you can kind-of see how it looks shaggy at the ends. I only clip really dead ends once or twice a year!!! From the middle of her back through her back feet, her hair is really coarse. The overall quality of her coat has improved quite a bit since I started using the Chris Christensen Fusion brush and Silk Spirits on her. Attachment 206869 Attachment 206870 |
