I am glad you are ok Beth. For I am scared to death of big dogs and will keep my distance for when I see them coming I am over on the opposite side of the street. I had this happen with Grizz when he was alive and we were out for a walk. Lo and behold out comes this Shepard running out his front door. I reacted quickly for I scooped Grizz up and threw him in the back of the truck. I was lucky for the owners came running out and stopped him from attacking me. I was so scared and I know Grizz had the shock of his life. Never trusted that street again! I am so glad you are ok! I hope you called your brother and looked in to if something can be done! Please keep us posted! |
Try not to be scared of all big dogs. I have a german shepherd, Cash here and he is a big wuss. He gets beat on every single day by 4 yorkies and just lays there and takes it lol However he is my trained protection dog and still is a big wuss at home lol |
My gosh, Beth! Thank goodness it was a cool day and you were wearing your jacket! I agree with others...if you can find out where this guy lives, it needs to be reported. What a shock for you! I'm so glad that you're okay! *HUG* I hope you can figure out where he lives and get it reported. Also, he can replace your leather jacket...thank goodness it's something that can be replaced and you're not minus an arm! Did that guy act shook at all when this happened, or was he just defensive? I'm so glad this wasn't worse than it already was! Yikes! |

I will be sure to park down that way all of next week again to see if I run into him. I will be sure to take some pics tonight of the bruise and then I will have my phone at the ready next week to call the cops if I run into him. |
Oh my! You are so lucky you were not hurt badly by this! I am so glad you were able to keep our senses and push the dang dog off of you, I would of freaked out and froze on the spot. Too bad a police officer was not around when this happened to you so more could be done to the owner, puppy or not, I am sure that guy has a clue that his dog was aggressive. I do not trust bigger dogs at all, when I was young my dad got bit in the face by a Doberman Pincher. My sisters and I were standing right off to the side of our driveway when he attacked my dad, and I remember the ambulance taking him away to go get fixed up , he had to get a lot of stitches to close up the gashes on his face. I guess seeing that happen to my dad just makes me leary around all big breeds. The Doberman was Policed Trained dog and I guess he just snapped. |
OMG, BETH! How scary! Can you imagine what could've happened if you had had Zoey w/ you? I mean, clearly, that dog was in a "state" - and I bet if Zoey had been with you, there is no telling what may have gone on - so thank heavens it worked out as it did. AND, that you kept your head about you. Did you get his info or anything? I am so glad you are okay. Unreal. |
I am sorry this happend to you, and glad you did'n get seriously hurt, but you realy need to report it, just think it could happen to a little kid, i would feel so guilty... he needs to have this animal muzzled ! |
Called my brother and he called up the preceint that it was in and they did their brotherhood thing. He asked them to keep an eye out for the guy walkin the dog and told them that the dog attacked me. I will keep an eye out and I will also speak to my two old neighbors that still live there to see what if anything they know about the guy. Oh boy when I got home and hubby was told yeesh did the man blow his top. He called me brother the cop and told him to bring his ass over they were going looking for the guy. Silly man...I talked him down. Nothing like a hot ass Puerto Rican Man.....yeesh. My arm is a little swollen at the spot and red. I am so stupid because I was so mad that I didnt' think to ask the guy if the dog had all his shots. So if get lock jaw yall will know why. The skin isn't broken but it is swollen and it looks like I have a hickey there. |

Hopefully they can spot the guy and do something about it. He's sure to come around there again. |
OMG...I know I am reading this late. Scary, Glad you are ok. Some dog owners are not so responsible and that's really sad! |
Wow I just read this post. That had to be so scary Beth. I'm so glad it wasn't worse. I think people need to take a class to have a big dog. It can be so scary on the street when a big dog is coming close to you. You never know if the person really has control on not. I hope they catch the guy and give him a big fine and send him to training classes so he can learn to handle a big dog. Sometimes it is so dangerious out there...... |
I am so glad you are okay. But something needs to be done. My brother was bitten by a big dog last year on the back of his thigh. He did not provoke the dog or anything he just bit him. I think the only reason why my brother was able to to finally get away ( he was bitten while he was on his bike) was that a pitbull, his friend dog start attacking the other dog. My mother was sooo mad and my grandmother. My brother has always been scared of big dogs now it seems he is a little scared of every dog. The dog end up being put down because the owner's (my brother friend) did not have the proper id for him, shots, nothing. We were very blessed that the dog did not have rabies. I hope the bruise goes away soon. ((hugs)). We have a rottie that lives right across from us also and the owner let's him out without a leash and he is huge! |
I'm so glad that the dog didn't hurt you bad, I would've been scared! I totally understand your fustration and anger, and don't worry, you have every right not to be lady like when the dog just bit you out of no where! I wonder how many other times this dog has done something like that and the owner used the same excuse "oh he's never showed aggression before" If this person keeps taking his dog out, unmuzzled, unfortunatly it CAN really hurt someone some day, and the owner will be saying the same thing. Why do people think they can just allow an aggressive dog out among the public and not worry about it! It's not that hard! |
OMG! :( Beth I am sorry to hear that you got bit by a rottie! I am glad to hear that you are not seriously hurt, oh boy. Yeah you should of called the cops right away because if it would be a child forget about it. I know at that moment you probably got all shocked. Hopefully your brother will find out about that guy and I sure hope the guy will put a muzzle on his dog. I dont blame you for being so mad. I hope your bruise will go away very soon. |
take offense anyone but I am a strong disagreer to pits and one would never be allowed to be in my home. They were bred for one reason and everyone knows that story...... |
