My mom and dad had Layla today on a "road trip" (business trip to Chatham). They stopped for a rest stop and my dad went into the bathroom first while my mom took Layla out. My mom came back in the car with layla and saw my dad coming out so she shut the door and headed inside as my dad headed back to the truck. When my mom came out of the bathroom, my dad was STILL standing outside of the truck! Layla had locked them out of the truck!! well Thank GOD for Onstar!! they called and had the truck unlocked!! there was even an option (when you first call) for Children and or pets locked inside a vehicle (this was classified as "emergency" service.. i agree!!) now it's a good laugh!

I don't have Onstar, but after hearing that story, I am now a fan. Any company that classifies pets the same as children is OK in my book. So glad Miss Layla's okay!

i keep a extra door key behind the license plate, you might have to drill the hold bigger for the screw to go thur it. a quarter will work on the screw...experience talking here. a couple of years ago my hubby locked me out of the car TWICE in one week. i don't think it will work with the keys that open door and start car with same key because they sometimes have that little black thing on the key. just had a idea, maybe they can cut a key without the black thing to use to open door.

I love OnStar - mainly because once we got it, we've never even needed the emergency services (like Murphy's Law, I think. ;)

2 :thumbup:'s up for OnStar! I have it too and love it...couldn't live without it! :thumbup: My hubby is so darn FAMOUS for locking the keys in the car :rolleyes: so we'd be in BIG TROUBLE if we didn't have it.

Thank goodness your parents have it too and were able to get to little miss Layla right away!!

I'm glad everything turned out well!

I just wanted to let everyone know that if you have a keyless entry remote, you can unlock it through a phone. For example, I locked my keys in the car but had my cell phone. I called my parents who happen to have the other remote for my car. My parents pointed the remote at their cellphone from their end, and I pointed my cell phone at my car and it opened.

Oh, my gosh! that is crazy! I want to try that just to see if it would work. Although, I have no one around to give a separate remote to.
