How Pink ? I'm a bit concerned about Bentley. I know his gums should be pink & whatnot but how pink? When I look at them they're pink enough.. but I'm a bit worried. He seems a bit lethargic.. at least, he doesn't seem like his usual crazy self! Are there any other 'gum tests' I could do? |
if he seems lethargic..give him some nutrical or honey...better safe than sorry. is he eating and drinking ok????? |
He seems to be eating okay.. at least, I think so. I gave him a little bit of nutrical & he's drinking lots of water. |
You shouldn't just be giving Nutrical just for the heck of it. It's just plain old corn syrup mixed with a very very very very very tiny amount of vitamins to make it sound better than corn syrup. Some puppies that are extremely small need this because they have a hard time eating enough to suit their energy needs. To test for hypoglycemia press on the gum, after you release your finger it should return to looking pink again, if it stays white looking your dog might be suffering from this. If you have a pup under 8 months of age be sure you are free feeding him so that there is food available at all time. Next time you go to the vet check with him. How old is he? |
He's 6 months old.. I'm trying not to give him too much Nutrical & giving him as much food & water as he needs. |

He's 6 months old & weighs 4lbs 5oz. Mmmm.. I'm gonna be watching him all night sooo if he doesn't get any better, we'll take him to the vet. Does pressing on their gums really work? What color are they supposed to be? |
