Have you heard about this breeder?: TEACUP ANGELS? http://www.teacupangels.net/ I've been talking to the lady about meeting her this weekend to purchase the Adult Gold Yorkie she is selling. Any word on them? |
Never heard of them, but they sure do have a lot of breeds! The puppy on the front page looks scared crapless. I saw the female you are talking about. She's pretty cute. I personally wouldn't pay $1500 for a 3 y/o, but that's just my opinion. Good luck - I hope the meeting goes well! :D |
Yeah I personally wouldn't pay that much for an adult Yorkie either, especially one that's not even registered with AKC. Nor would I buy from a place that uses the term "teacup". But nevertheless, good luck with everything! Post pictures when you have them. :) |

Ahhhh! I don't know! I can be so naive with it comes to trusting people. |
hmm idk i havent heard from them but them using the word teacup isnt a very good thing. Is the one you're buying on there? |
Yes, she is under the adults section. |
Seems like she breeds quite a few breeds of dogs! I think that $1500 is alot for an adult dog. $1000 sounds like a better price, if she is in perfect health. If you end up bringing her home, I am sure she will feel like she has gone to heaven compared to where she is now!! Good luck with everything.....let us know how it goes!! |
Personally no I wouldn't purchase a puppy nor the female listed. For 1000 to 1500 dollars you can find one that meets the standard of the breed. What is an exotic???? And worse than the term teacup....quote...she breeds specifically towards MICRO puppies. |

I don't even have to look at the site..the use of the word "teacup" in her url and Kennel name is enough to make me run far away. No reputable breeder will use that term. Please check out www.ytca.org They are the parent club of this breed. Read the Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics...that is what you should be looking for in a reputable breeder. I also highly recommend you check out their breeder referral list - those are YTCA members and should be following the ethical code of conduct and breeding quality dogs. |

Please visit the YTCA website to find out why marketing Yorkies using the terms "teacup" and "rare gold" is a huge red flag. An Important Note About Color in Yorkshire Terriers The most distinctive characteristic of an adult Yorkshire Terrier is its long blue and tan silk coat. A puppy is born black and tan, but the only recognized colors for adults when registering with AKC are blue and gold, blue and tan, black and gold, or black and tan. The AKC Breed Standard and YTCA Code of Ethics do not recognize any other color dogs than noted above. This includes all gold, born blue, liver (also known as red or chocolate), and parti-colors. One of the reasons for avoiding breeding "off-colored" Yorkies is because it could be a genetic defect that may affect the dog's health. Some health problems can include, but aren't limited to, severe skin problems, allergies, total hair loss and in some cases long-term illness and/or death. A responsible breeder will not intentionally breed for undesirable traits. The Yorkshire Terrier is a tan dog with a blue saddle. The “rare gold” Yorkie is actually a dog that appears as such due to an improper saddle pattern. Show breeders have seen this and commonly call it running gold. When the dog is cut down, you can see that the blue saddle does not come down far enough. The Yorkshire Terrier blue saddle extends lower than some of the other black and tan terriers extending to the elbow and also to the hock on the rear leg. Gold hairs can occur in the blue and black or blue hairs can appear in the gold. These faults are addressed in the Yorkshire Terrier Standard. These dogs have serious faults and they too should not be sold as "rare" but placed in loving homes as they are very incorrect. http://www.ytca.org/faq.html |
I would be very cautious. They breed several different kinds of dogs. They also say they allow no visitors to see the dogs. That to me is a red flag. |
I didn't read that much into the website, but you are right, a very huge red flag. My mom is a breeder and there is always an open door to come visit and take a look around the kennels - as should every breeder I believe. Also, why an adult? If you aren't wanting a puppy, why not adopt? If you visit petfinder.com you find all sorts of yorkies and yorkie mixes that need loving homes (and adoption fees are not $1500!) For $1500, you can get a drop dead gorgeous Yorkie, and like poster said above, a much better representation of the breed. You might also want to ask if this dog has been used for breeding. A reputable breeder (in my own opinion) doesn't sell their adults when retired from a breeding program, they adopt them to out to loving, forever homes. My mom always leaves the door open down the road if for some reason they can't care for it anymore or have to get rid of it, it can come back and she'll find another good home for it. |
Any reputable breeder, I think, would allow you to come see the dogs/puppies and/or their kennels and where they keep and raise their dogs/puppies. They should also want to see how you interact with their puppies/dogs if they say they want to be as sure as possible that they are going to good homes.... hhmmmm???? Don't know about this one? Be careful...please! |
I know nothing of this breeder,, but the site is pretty scary to me,,but if i couldnt visit the kennels,, i'd not buy,,, (personal choice) Best of Luck in your decision! |
