dog modeling and contests
 
does anyone know anything about dog modeling and/or contest for dogs to enter... not agility.. but like... based on their looks, personality, photography, etc

i looked up dog contests on google but not much came up... if anyone knows of any can you let me know?

also, if anyone has a dog here that does prof modeling, how did you get started? what is required of your dog/of a dog to be a dog model?

I like to enter Summerlin in dog contests - a lot of them have categories such as best dressed, best hair styles, etc. I noticed you live in Florida - you can check the websites listed on this site.

Many of the dog contests are hosted by animal shelters and the like to help raise money for their efforts. Local newspapers often host them as well. Sometimes local fairs and festivals will have a small dog show. Check with your local societies and organizations.

I have found that professional photographers tend to attend these shows in the bigger towns - ask them if they would like to photograph your baby. If she is particularly striking, they may just come up to you :)

There are a lot of dog contests around, there's a thread in the forum where you can post a link asking for votes for you dog. However, rarely is there a prize, it's more of a fun thing to do. There is one member I've read about, but can't remember her name whose dog is a profession model, and several others who have online stores and use their dogs as models. Does your dog like to sit quietly for hours and pose? Doesn't seem like much of a life for a dog.

I imagine that most places that would sign up a dog would probably be scam artists; no legitimate company expects payment from you, remember that. Why don't you do what most of us do. Take cute pictures; post them on this forum, and let everyone ooh and ah over them.

oh im not looking for money.. just for fun... i think she is adorable.. and I DO post alot of pictures on here and myspace and dogster.. i just get alot of .. she shouldbe a model! (because she takes cute pics) .. but no she would not like to sit for hours.. maybe 30 minutes and look curiously at you and the camera lol :rolleyes:
