impatient!! i want to order the karipet NOW...
 
does anyone use the Karipet to carry their yorkie hands-free? how adjustible is it for a growing yorkie?

i want to order one, but Kash is only 15 1/2 weeks old, and i know he will get a little bigger (but probably not by much). so my predicament is that i don't want to pay $37.50 to order the smallest size just for him to grow out of it in a few months.

grr!!!!!!!!!

should i just wait? i'm so impatient. lol.

How much does he weigh now? He could double his weight, but I found they like to use this sort of thing more as a puppy than an adult anyway.

he weighs 2lbs right now... which means i would have to order the petite size (smallest they sell)... if i doubled the weight though, i would probably order the next size up... hmmm... i just don't know! lol.

I don't want to start a debate here, but I need an explanation of your signature line. If your term of a backyard breeder buys pups from a responsible breeder and does the same testing, housing, breeding and care as the responsible breeder WHERE DOES THE IMPROVING AND DAMAGE START AND STOP? WHO'S IMPROVING AND WHO'S DAMAGING? WHO'S JUDGING THE BREEDER? PLEASE EXPLAIN!

They wouldn't give me enough space in my signature to say what I really think of backyard breeders, so I chose those words from an article I read. Here's the link that explains the difference between professional breeders and backyard breeders. http://www.geocities.com/Petsburgh/Fair/1901/chart.html I want to discourage everyone from buying from a backyard breeder. It will save them lot of money in the long run, and much heartache.

Whenever someone uses all CAPS, if feel like they are screaming at me, and even though you say, "I don't want to start a debate here," it sure feels like you do. i rarely scream at anything or anybody. i capitalized those words because i wanted to make my questions stand out. i don't understand why you won't answer my questions. i'm not a breeder. i do spend a lot of time and money on my four yorkies. i'm an inquiring mind that needs clarification on a statement. i'm trying to figure out how you can improve the breed. of course, i understand how you can damage the breed.

if you prefer to disregard my questions, i'll suppose you quoted something that you don't understand any more than i do. it's not a matter of my liking the statement. i want to understand the statement you quoted.

I personally find the statement to be kind of self explanatory. The statement means basically that breeders who are of higher quality (reputable breeders, show breeders) breed in such a way that they do not carry on genetic defects, and strive to promote healthy traits, personalities and genes. Backyard breeders (breeders of lesser quality) breed in such a way that they are mostly ignorant of genetic defects, and often times breed their animals even if they have problems and therefore pass on these "undesirable" traits.

This is a barebones explanation.

To get things back on track, I would definitely wait. I bought a couple of carriers when Millie was smaller and she was ok with the carrier up to a certain age, and then she really preferred NOT to be in one. So now I have 2 practically hardly-been-used bags in my closet. Another thing, Millie was about 2 lbs at 15 1/2 wks and she is now 6 lbs. And 6 pounds is a lot of weight to carry around shopping or to do things. I always found that I needed the use of my hands too and the carrier was just an extra
"purse" I didn't need.

So be patient and wait and see how much bigger your little one gets before investing in your bag. :)

ETA: I bought a stroller and find I use it much much more than the bag and I found it much more convenient!

Yall..SERIOUSLY STOP! This is getting ridiculous! If you have a problem with someone's signature..PM them! Don't start bickering about it on someone else's thread! Are we all not grown women (and some men) here?! GEEZ! :mad: :thumbdown

To the OP..I am so sorry this has happened! Personally, I would wait a little longer. Although compared to other carriers, $40 might not seem like much, what's the point if they are only going to use it for a couple of times? Look on Ebay and get a cheap cheap one and then invest when your baby is a little better!

OK - to OP: Is this the type of carrier that's like a sling and their little paws hang out??? If so I have one but I waited until Izzy was almost full grown to order one but I got mine from the Yorkie Rescue site and it's very well made and the proceeds went to the rescue. ;)

I guess I dont understand the point of a carrier. Why does a dog need to be carried? Maybe in a store or something? I guess that would make sense since if you dont want it on a leash so that people might grab it. I just dont understand them for walks and stuff, seems like it defeats the purpose of going for a walk with your dog.
With the growing trend of people using animals as accessories, I am very turned off by the many carriers and purses that people use with their pets. I use a carrier for my baby because she cannot walk, my dog can, so I dont understand it.
I'm not trying to sound cold or anything, I just want to understand why these are so popular and why one would need to carry their dog so much that they require some sort of carrier.

i would assume that she wants the carrier to carry her baby in stores etc.
i use my front carrier for lexi all the time.. i like taking her wherever i can..
the only place i dont take her are food places.. havent got kicked out yet..
we go shopping all the time..
