grooming Hi guys. I have a question. Do you let your yorkie's hair on the bridge of his nose grow? or do you "shave" it? Last time I took him to the groomer, they shaved that part, and I didn' t like it. Now it's growing and it makes him look messy Just want your opinions if you usually let it get long there? Thanks |
I don't shave it. I usually keep it pretty short for a Yorkie but not that short. |
I like it short |
I started cutting it or shaving it on two of my yorkies because they get eye buggers too bad and it keeps from getting too bad but the rest I don't |
I keep Joey's cut short. I don't know if you are aware of it, but there is a grooming section that has all sorts of tips on grooming. You might want to check it out. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=45 I was here for quite a while before I realized that there were many different forums on YorkieTalk. |
Can any of you post pictures so I can see what it looks like shaved/cut? |
Thanks, I will check it out. :) |
hair cuts and tips thanks Nancy for the site for hair cuts and tips. I will check it out. I put up a post about how to cut a yorkies hair and didn't find anything, so this will be good I hope. Thank you |
They SHAVED it?!?!?! oooh, I get so furiated when owners bring their dogs in and tell me about other groomers doing that. You can TRIM the hair right around their eyes, but there is NO reason what-so-ever to shave the bridge of their nose! Grrrr lol Sorry, bug grooming pet peeve of mine! |
I HATE when groomers shave the bridge of the nose...it's one thing to trim the hair in between and above the eyes if the owner wants it done..but to shave the whole nose?? I don't trim the hair at all there |
The YTCA has some instruction on grooming. http://ytca.org/grooming_clips5.html I'm trying to let it grow, but there is a place that's not the mustache and not the topknot, and it hard to know what to do with it. |
I shave Zoey's I like it that way but just on top, then on the sides at the very end so it doesn't get in her food. I am not home right now but will post pics tonight. |
When we got Tucker his original owners had shaved the bridge of his nose and I'm now desperately trying to grow it out so he looks more like Lexie. They're both beautiful, but I'm not fond of the shaved nose. |
I use tiny clippers and trim the hair on the bridge of the nose just near the corner of the eyes so they don't poke him in the eye. I don't shave the whole bridge. (but I also plan on keeping him in a puppy cut so I'm not to worried about the short hair...) |
grrrrrrr my VET shaved miss buffey and bentleys noses when we took them to the vet the very first time...fast foward 3 months later and it is starting to grow back....probably about an inch long now :( and NO she did not have my permission to SHAVE...she asked if i wanted it "trimmed" and i said yes :( bleh, i hope she never cuts human hair lol :D |

Oh what a little cutey, reminds me of Joey when he was little. I can't believe they don't mind the snow, Joey shivers when we set the AC down to low. |
Thanks :) He is rough tough Mainer! (Well.....he only stays out for a short while and usually has his jacket on:D ) |
Thanks guys. That's what happened to me. Several months ago, I took him to the groomer for the first time. Some of you might remember me saying they [I]they took him in the back behind a closed door where I couldn't see[I]and shaved the entire bridge. Anyway :) its growing back now, just wanted to know if I was freaking out and overreacting to that episode back then, cause if I can jsut trima little and let the mustache grow that would be perfect. I'm trying to learn how to do it myself. thanks everyone! |
I trim my girls nose sort of in a triangle , wide at the bottom and going narrow up to the part between their eyes...It blends nicely and they can see...I keep looking at them now to see if it looks chopped up, but it doesn't ...So I'm happy... However, I know what groomers can do...I went to pick them both up from a new groomer and even with my instructions, they both looked like CATS...meow:rolleyes: Couldn't wait til it grew out !!!:) |
