what do you use to weigh your puppy at home? hi there! Kash was weighed at the vet this past Saturday at 15 weeks old, and he is 2 lbs. i want to be able to weigh him at home, not just when i take him to the vet, but my "human" scale won't even register a weight when i place him on it because he's so light! lol. what kind of scale can i buy to weigh him that will be accurate? where can i get it, and how much will it cost approximately? thanks! |
Toys R Us sells a baby scale that is pretty inexpensive. That should work. I weigh myself and then pick up Tucker and weigh myself again. Then I subtract my weight and I know what he is. But, he's a lot more than 2 lbs! |
I ordered a digital postal scale off ebay. It only cost about $16 and is very accurate. It weighs up to 50 lbs. |
I use a digital postal scale but it only goes to 5 lbs but it is accurate. I have been weighing Roxie every week. She is 25 weeks and weighs 3.6 lbs I bought the scale at Office Max |
I bought a baby scale off of ebay a couple yrs ago. I use it to weigh my bigger dogs. For little puppies, I use a kitchen scale. I paid about $15 for the baby one and $28 for the kitchen one, I found that at amazon.com, both work great! |
This one is a little more expensive, but I feel it is definitely worth it. Maybe you can find it for less somewhere. http://www.oldwillknottscales.com/in...ROD&ProdID=389 |
I found a scale at Bed Bath and Beyond; it only weighs to 7 pounds, but that enough for us. I like it because it weighs in pounds and ounces not tenths of a pound. I think it was around $20.00. I put a bucket on the scale weigh reset it to zero, and then place Joey in the bucket. This feature allows you to not have to factor in the weight of the container you are using. It can also be used for a food scale. |
i have a digital scale, first i weigh myself then i pick lexi up and weigh myself again, the added weight is hers.. |

I had the same problem. I then took a 5lb weight and added it with her. It worked great :) It said 7.5 pounds so I knew she was 2.5 pounds! A human scale starts at around 5 pounds... use a 10 pound if it doesn't work! |
i just weigh myself holding caden, then just weigh myself and subtract my own weight from the combined weight =] |
digital food scale I use a digital food scale that calculates both grams and lbs.... This way I can measure out food on the gram scale and dogs on the lbs / oz. It has a nifty little tray that comes in handy! I think I ordered it online.... As far as adult dogs, My vet does a farm call 2 x per year to check everyone in the kennel which helps with accuracy..... However, I had to eventually purchase as veterinarian scale since we had to have detailed data on weights for our dog food research..... Anyway, I digress.... a digital kitchen scale should be fine if it measures up to 10 lbs.... |
i have a little kitchen scale,, i used when raising cockatiels and parrots,, to make certain of their weight gain,, i used it here for Cricket when she was so tiny, weighed her daily for ages,, to make certain she kept enough weight on (she was 16 ounces at 12 weeks) but now ,i weigh holding one dog,, then weigh alone,, and just figure it that way in my digital scale, and take them by our Vet office when i really want to know exact weight from time to time,, they are always happy to see us and let me weigh the girls,,,:animal-pa |
i was wondering what people use too.. i just purchased a kitchen scale for 25 dollars on amazon (free shipping!) ... i cant wait till it gets here... pebbles is still under 2 pounds at 15 weeks .. im always curious about how much she weighs but didnt have a way to weigh her (when i hold her on the scale it just goes up 1 pound) |
