Oh No ticks I found some ticks on Skippy's neck. How do I get them out? |
i'm not sure if its the same with people as with dogs but if it is you could use tweezers. (sp?) you might want to wait for someone else's oppinion, though, sorry!! |
Thats the only way I know how too.Just pull them off and make sure you get the head. |
or i think i heard of something where its like something that kills the ticks and you rub it on and they fall off. i'm not sure, but if it does exist you probably have to get it from your vet, if not, i'm going to invent it!! lol |
I found a tick on Tucker once. I smothered the tick in olive oil ( You can use vaseline too) this will suffocate the tick & then you can pull it out with tweezers. Make sure you get the head. Good luck! |
I have decently long fingernails, so I get my nails around the little booger, pinch him at the point where he is connected, and gently pull. They normall come off. You can't be squeamish about it, because the will squirm on you. You have to kill them, then. Either by impaling them (You can't just step on them) or my preferred way is to put them in a little cup of rubbing alcohol. Don't just wash them down the sink or try to flush them if they're still alive. They can crawl out! :thumbdown :thumbdown |
Put vaseline or olive oil on the to suffocate it. Then pull it out with a tweezer but MAKE SURE YOU GET THE HEAD! If you're too nervous to do this, take your pup to the vet. |
DON'T use vasoline! In nursing school I was told that it can lead to more infection, use alcohol to suffocate it and then pull it straight out. I hate those little buggers too! |
You can take a q-tip with some alcohol on it and put it right on the tick where it is connected to your dog or use a little bit of olive oil. Then take your tweezers and gently but firmly pull it out. DOnt twist it. Pull straight off of it or the head might come off and then that becomes a problem. |
Hmm, I use tick dip. Just mix up a little batch of it and dab it on the tick. My dogs are all on the Frontline Plus, but for some reason every now and then I'll find a tick. Sylvia |
Thanks for the tips. Im so glad I havent found any ticks or fleas on Gucci. |
Thanks again for all the valuable information. I got all the buggers out, and I love put them in the alcholol. They deserve it for biting my little man. |
