washable pee pads I finally broke down and ordered washable pee pee pads from a website recommended by a fellow YT'er. Let me tell you, I had my doubts - but I LOVE them. Lucy and Rebel had no trouble at all making the changeover and I like being able to pick them up and throw them in the washer. Reb's had a slight upset tummy (my son let him have a fried gizzard) and believe me, being able to wash, dry and re-use has really come in handy! |
That's great! Love mine, too. Only one of mine uses the pads, though. Wish the others would when there's nasty weather. But no, outside we have to go. When I say "we" that, of course, includes me. |
I love mine also, but then I work in a hospital and nursing home for years and have first hand exp with the absorption factor of the pads weather they are used or new. |
we just ordered some off of ebay and they are the hospital type. i have put the throw away pads on them so they get used to them as the washable ones are about 2x as big as the disposable pads. So far so good. i will gradually remove the throw aways. Candy is the only one that uses them. i wish she would tell my other girls about them as they would rather go outside too. Bad weather is always a problem as i am the one standing outside with the huge golf umbrella while they take their time checking out every blade of grass. |
When I was training cricket I used a spray from petco that basicly makes them want to pee on the pad. they still have it. I worked wonders |
I started using the washable pads a couple of months ago, since my puppies tore up the disposables! I love them! With 8 dogs in the house, they are saving me lots of money. They absorb so much better and the dogs don't seem to miss the pad as much. :) Martha |
How many times does the dog use the pad before you throw it in the wash? |

When it's teetee, I let it 'em go twice. If it's brown (:p ) it goes immediately. |
I just bought mine this weekend. So far, so good. I love it!!!! Rascal had no problem with the transition. |
Would love to know the website. I'll be getting a puppy on Fri and am looking for alternatives to the disposable ones. |
how did you get them to go on the washable? I got one the other day to try & moistened her pee from another dis. pad on it, she wouldn't go on it & went on the floor next to it so then i tried putting it directly in front of the box w/the dis. pad in the box & she still didn't use it?? I also sprayed it with the stuff you can get from petsmart that makes them go tee-tee on it to no avail?? but I am trying to change too b/c if mommy doesn't come in there to play alot w/her she likes to tear up the corners of the pee pad...LOL! |

Rascal stays in a 3x3 pen sometimes. He is too little to run around all the time, he might get stepped on. So, I bought one the size of his pen. He had no other choice than to go on the pad. |
