Here is a link of what a true silky terrier looks like http://www.gotpetsonline.com/picture...-terrier-0092/ http://www.dogbreedz.com/dogbreeds/silky-terrier.cfm There hair never grows long like a yorkie. They look like foxes to me. |

Here's AKC's description and another pic http://www.akc.org/breeds/silky_terrier/index.cfm You're smart to be careful.....Some people will mix them and sell them as a yorkie. The above poster is right, if you don't feel good about it take your time you'll find the perfect one. |
if you want a yorkie, and you are not certain this is a yorkie, then do not feel obligated. There is a difference when I look at the websites. But the picture you showed of the momma dog, it looks like a yorkie to me. do what you think is best. You do not want to live your life wondering. Good luck! |
Welcome to YorkieTalk. :) There are several issues here beyond appearance. First, the fact that she was selling her pups through a drive-thru window. That really bothers me. If she does that, what else does she do or not do for that matter? I think you may be looking at a pup with some serious health issues down the road if you're not careful. Then, you weren't able to see the sire or even a photo. I would question that. The mom looks like a yorkie to me, but you need to be concerned about more than appearance. It also doesn't look like she has LP, liver shunt, heartworms, etc... but who knows? Chances are there's no health guarantee either. I would walk away even if it means losing a couple hundred dollars. The right pup is worth waiting for. I am proud of you for asking questions. When we know better, we do better. |
whoops, the picture I saw looked like an adult yorkie, will go look and see if I can find any of the pups. I went back and looked again, it doesn't look silky to me at all, looks like pet quality yorkie...I would go look at the pups |
Yeah if you're not comfortable, don't buy it. A puppy is a huge investment of both your time and your emotions and your feelings would definitely affect your care of the puppy. BUT.. that dog looks like a Yorkie to me. |

To me this lady mislead your husbans1 I would be very nice, tell her that you thought it was a yorkie, and not a sliky! and that you have waited for a long time- and want a yorkie! It might all be woked out between evryone just fine! Good luck! |
I also believe this is a Yorkie and not a Silkie. Many Yorkies have the terrier muzzle. The baby doll face is not on all Yorkies but having said this I would do a little more research and find the puppy of your dreams. |

You're getting alot of good advice here, good luck! |
1 Attachment(s) If you feel uncomfortable about the dog don't take the dog. I have silky and when I got him, the place had told my mom it was yorkie. Well once I looked at the paper it was a silky. Alot ppl still think Tobey is a yorkie till this day and I tell them no he is a silky. I always wanted a yorkie and I finally got Isabella 6 yrs later after Tobey and he is a great dog. Here's a pic of Tobey... Silky are great dogs, but if you don't want one don't take it. :D |

Picture of the Pup in question :) Well , I'm not getting the pup.....she wasn't selling her puppies through a drive thru window however...she is a 75 year old lady that saw a pretty golden and mentioned she raised dogs herself. She is really a doll, and it seems that most people agree she is a yorkie but what does Pet Quality mean? Is that the opposite of show quality, and chances are the pups will look a lot like mom. She agreed to give me my money back and I felt really bad for going back on the deal. That is really not my character. :( However I am corresponding with a couple of breeders that have the females I am looking for. Wish me luck. Thanks all Heres a pic of the cute pup http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...syMae08002.jpg |

Thats a yorkie in the pic, and she might even be a very nice looking one as well, just a very unflattering picture. |
