curious and concerned I have been reading all the other threads on their furbabies weight. My little guy weighs about 5.5 right now. His mom was 6 and dad was 3 1/2. He is 4months right now. Does that mean he will be huge?! I don't want him any b igger than right now but by the sound of it he will keep growing. any advise? |
yes he's probably got a good amount of growing left to do. They usually slow down between 6-8months, depending on the dog. Lacy seemed to do most of her growing between 3-5months. I know she was a little over 3lbs at 12 weeks and I think probably around 4lbs at 4 months. She's 7.5lbs now at 3 1/2 years. If I had to guess, your boy will be over 7lbs full grown..probably 8-9lbs. |

It is really hard to tell for sure how big he will get but my guess would be around 8 or 9 lbs. Is he over weight? Some puppies can carry some extra weight and then when they have a growing spurt they can trim down. All blood line are different. Some grow fast early on and then quit growing around 7 months and others grow slowly until they are a year old or older. No matter what he ends up weighing he is still a adorable boy and you will love him just as much. |
so there is a chance for him to only get a tiny bit bigger? Sorry I dont mean to sound like I will be disappointed. I am not one of those girls wanting a tiny dog just to carry around... we love him sooooo much. I was just wondering. I just dont want to be mislead. The breeder told us about 6 pounds. |

I bought my yorkichon and they said he would not get much bigger he was about 4 lbs then (3 months) he is now 11 lbs (8 months) and although I wished he was a bit smaller I love him all the same. |

I agree....I had fallen in love at first sight and I wanted him no matter what so i don't understand why they don't tell you the truth if they know...but then again maybe they just have no clue which is fine but they should be honest about it! |
they grow at different rates..some do most of their growing the first 4 mos. then slow down, others keep growing..Mine was around 7 lbs at a year, now at 5 she's 13-14 lbs. but, I've also seen some big pups, that have ended up being pretty small full grown. You have to remember, they used to breed them big, and there are still throw backs..my 14 lb'er came from 4 lb parents |
