How Do You Make Bows And Dresses? Hello, All! I would like to know if anyone could share a site where it tells/shows you how to make your own bows. (I know how to make bows but would like to know how to make show bows).. If no one knows a site, could someone explain the steps? And is there a site where it shows/tells the steps to make doggie dresses? I will be going to a material store in a couple days and hobby lobby tomorrow. Thank You! |
b/c sooo many here make money off their dog bows and dresses I don't think many will give you suggestions on how to make them. I make things for Slade and kinda figured that out on my own, but i have found one site that you can pay like $20 and get materiials and directions on how to make bows. |
Thanks for responding! Do you mind PMing me about the site? |
This website has some useful information on bows http://www.make-and-build-dog-stuff....barrettes.html This site has some information on clothes. http://www.make-and-build-dog-stuff....g-clothes.html For show bows get some fabric stiffener sold at craft store. It's by the glue. Many people have suggested Walmart for dog patterns. |

sent ya a pm! |
www.doggiebowties.com has beautiful show bows and she sells instructions on how to make them. There are patterns you can buy from dog clothes but I've never used them. It is so much easier to just buy clothes and bows |
Thanks. It's just that it is much cheaper to do it yourself. I just need to buy things in bulk then I can just make a bow on a wilm when I decide I need more. I wouldn't have to order and wait a while. I could just make it and be done by the end of the day with no cost. And plus, I have so much time on my hands Quote:

how to make bows....I do know that one! My aunt has 4 yorkie show dogs and I have seen her at times get normal little girls hair bows and cut them to size, then put them on a clip...ummm, you know like the kind of clip that you just pinch both sides and it opens...it is almost impossible for them to get them out if you do it with those! |

They have some like this?: http://www.artbeads.com/clear-98.htm...&zmap=CLEAR-98 I am looking for ones that are about a inch long. My boss had some (she made bows) but she doesn't remember where she got it from because she doesn't do those anymore said she thinks she bought it in a store in Dallas. She shops at so many places. |
Last weekend I bought little clips at Wallmart in the baby section that have sparkly crowns on then adorable, I have also bought butterflys and ddragonflys they are small and perfect for yorkie hair. |
I used to groom dogs and here's how I made them. I hope I can explain it well enough so you get the general idea. Take a piece of ribbon, however long you want, and hold it wrong side up. Take both ends and loop them towards the middle so it kinda looks like that breast cancer awareness pin. Hold ribbon in one hand and stretch a rubber band crossways right over the middle of the ribbon. Bring both ends of the rubberband over the ribbon to the back and put both ends of the rubber band on one finger. Take the bottom strand of the rubber band and pull it over the top one strand of the rubberband. Keeping hold of the top rubberband strand ( it is now on the bottom remember) pull and the rubberband will form a kinda "noose "on the ribbon. And WALA !! You have a bow. Start will a bigger piece of ribbon and a large rubberband until you get the idea. It takes about 3.2 seconds to make one. When you get it figured out, you can use two or three pieces of ribbon, maybe a little lace backing, whatever. Then all you do is separate the pieces of ribbon and fluff. It's morning so I hope I expained this well enough. Practice practice practice Good Luck |
I get my french barrettes on ebay, the 30 mm size. Here's a link to an auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/100-French-Style...QQcmdZViewItem |
Thanks! I'll look in the baby section, I never really thought about that! Quote:
