Please think about this some more Welcome to YT! :) I would also strongly encourage you to put your breeding plans on hold for the time being. Research and read as much as you can about breeding before you take such a serious step. Read the breeder section...keep a puppy watch with a YT breeder...check out the sick/injured section of YT. Then, when you think you are ready, have your male and female tested completely AND have them evaluated against the yorkie standard by another breeder who knows the yorkie standard. (I think we are all too attached to our yorkies to evaluate them objectively.) Then, and only then, find a mentor who is a reputable yorkie breeder to guide you. Good luck and best wishes! Oh, and what is your little girl's name? Posting pictures is required! :D (just kidding on the picture part, but we do want to see her) ;) |

3 Attachment(s) Welcome ! I too was thinking about breeding when I joined...not for profit, but to keep ALL the puppies for myself ! (Yes....I am mad....many people tell me so hee hee) I have 2 females and 1 male, all 4lbs. ...My first female,(TARA) I bought at 6 weeks, was neutered as a youngster as she was so dainty I decided then and there not to breed her. I then bought an un-neutered male rescue,(CASPER) age 19 months as a friend for Tara. 2 years later, I so desperately wanted another, and decided on another female puppy as my male had had to be rehomed to me, due to him being bullied and attacked by other breeding males in his previous home, so I wasn't going to bring in another male to hurt him ! I searched and searched and there were no puppies at the time here in Scotland....I am in the Highlands too, so always have to travel hundreds of miles to get one.....then my hubby told me of Tammy's ad in the newspaper.....100 miles away....she was 3 yrs old and in a terrible state. We travelled that day....hubby just from night-shift, and bought her on the spot....I wasn't leaving her there ! :( I took TAMMY straight to the vets and got her pungently stinking red raw yeast skin infection and mites treated...got her vaccinated - she had never been to a vet in her life - her owner had told me he "didn't agree with vets". I grew her hair and nursed her back to full health....then I joined YT ! I was contemplating mating her with my male and asked for advice which I followed.....nothing happened....yes they mated, but it was a slip tie, and I had been so worried about the whole process I decided I could not risk trying again....I had grown so fond of her....what if I'd lost her ! I got Tammy speyed last August age 4, and the rotten teeth taken out at the same time...her previous owner had never cleaned her tiny teethies and they were black and stinking. So I just wanted to tell you that I am SO GLAD I didn't breed my baby, and that there are just so many poor dogs out there....I have another pic of one on the Europe section just now....that need to be rescued as I have done with 2 of the 3 I have....I so want to go and rescue that little girl....but there would have been no way if I had had 2 more puppies here....and though I think mine are a happy threesome, I always have that option. Once you have gotten the advice you need....I hope all goes just as you hope... and you have lovely healthy puppies and Mum just as you hope for;) Puppies are lovely....you will find the whole process very demanding of time and effort, and you will find the info you need on the BREEDER'S SECTION on YT.....if you don't follow through for any reason....remember the many poor yorkie souls though no fault of their own who are locked up in a horrible pound tonight.....you could rescue one or more of them, or take them in and try to find them loving homes - perhaps for a fee if you wish, ....just a thought....but I hope whatever you decide works out for you and your lovely little girlie....lets see some pics of her and your Mum's dog if you have any !:D ...We want to see the cuties ! :dogsm6: :dogsm6: :animal-pa Debra x x x :love-hug3 :aimeeyork 1. Tara, nearly 8 :aimeeyork 2. Casper, 5 and a half :aimeeyork 3. Tammy, 4 and a half |

Welcome to YT!! You will find a lot of answers to your questions here. Good info!! Boobah and Gina said to say hello and welcome!:animal-pa |
:welcome4: Hi, welcome to Yorkietalk, lots of good information here. One thing I learned was that breeding toy breeds like yorkies is much more complex than other breeds, so many things can go wrong. Here's a link to an article that gives some information on breeding. TO BREED OR NOT TO BREED – THAT IS THE QUESTION |
