Work? I had to stop working recently because of an illness in the family. The illness in the family sucks but it has provided alot of time for me and Sophie to spend together. She just comes along with me :) I think when I return to work in the fall I'm only going to return part time to have more time with the kids and Sophie. Since I've been off her attitude has improved so much. She is sweeter and way more snuggly. I can't really explain the change but it is almost as if she feels like she fits in now. Have you noticed a change in your Yorkie's attitude when your schedule changes? |
My boys seem to be more clingy if I have been home for a while and then am gone for a extended period of time, rather than if I was working a regular schedule. |
Sounds like you and Sophie are enjoying your time together. |
i stayed home for a year after a car accident. romeo became very clingy and had a rough time when i returned to work. |
This going to sound really cheesy but I've come to really appreciate Sophie. (Queue the teasing husband...he calls me to crazy dog lady) I can talk to Sophie and she doesn't care what I'm saying, who I'm talking about or what my opinion is. At this point in time my dad is ill and sometimes I don't want to explain why I'm saying what I'm saying. When times are tough families can become challenging. Sophie can be challenging but she thinks I rock all the time. She never questions anything I do. |

My monkey has been very angry... This whole year she will be home alone for a good chunk of the day. I am working over 50 hours a week and since I my x moved out she is either home alone or my parents pick her up occasionally and she spends the night at their house. I have def seen a change in her attitute. She knows that I am giving her extra attention and treats and that im feeling guilty and she knows exactly how to get what she wants! I cant wait to get through this year!!! and get back to more normalcy. |
Absolutely!! I retired and stayed home 24/7 with Toto for about 2 1/2 years. This past August our broker talked me into coming back to Colorado to work on a project ... he promised "whatever it takes" to talk me into it! The nice offices he rented doesn't allow pets in the building! He thought it would be OK ... what a dork ... he should have asked and I thought he did!! Long story short ... we are going through "separation anxiety" and Toto is worse than me because she doesn't understand. I work more at my home office because, quite frankly, this job just isn't that important to me! :( |
Thanks for sharing :) |
I just recently started working from home Before I would do half a day at the office and half at home. I recently started working exclusively out of my home office and Tucker seems like he wants my attention to play every minute and doesn't understand that I have to actually work. It's like he thinks that if I am home I should be able to play with him, but that just isn't the reality of it. It's almost as if he is sadder now because he thinks I am ignoring him for no good reason. I don't know what to do. |
Ever thought of getting another Yorkie for the company of your little furbaby? There have been posts where a member has bought another doggie and it helped with seperation anxiety. |

Dito! I have been off the past 2 days and Phoebe is sooo clingy. I love it. One problem though: I am having to do all my house work one handed:D |
Dear Sophie's Mom, Dogs are not just dogs they have a heart and they understand. When my daddy was ill and I had sat at the hospital for hours and hours I could come home and talk to my dog Dakota, it seamed as if he understood every word that I said. If I cried he licked my tears. He and I would get out and walk and talk for hours, no matter what time it was, he didn't care. My daddy passed away 6 years this June and it still seams like yesterday, Dakota will be dead 2 years April 30, 2008 I still miss him daily. Hope the best for your dad..... |
