Coco Peeing & Pooping on the couch Hi everyone, I am new to this website. It has help me tremendously. However, i have not seen anyone having issues like their pooch peeing or pooping on the couch. These are my new couches!! They are not even 6 months old and now have stains on them. Any advice? Also, she wont eat unless I hand feed it to her. :animal36 What else? Cant seem to train her to go to the wee wee pads unless she is desperate to release. :aimeeyork. She likes to lick eveything even soap i spary on the carpet to clean up her mess or the spray to help her go pee on the pad. Is that toxic to her? Im getting sick of her quick. Please shed some patience to me. Gracias |
Welcome to yt. Don't get sick of her yet. How old is she? How long have youo had her? |
she is going on 4months:( |
hang in there. Bella was potty trained about 10 months but still had mistakes until 14 months. she only potty's inside and twice on the couch when we leave her. Now when i leave the house, I make a tent with the cushions like this /\ that has stopped her from peeing on the couch. Good look hang in there. it is so worth it. |
Just hang in there and have patience. Keep you eye on her and learn the signs of when she is ready to go. I watched Murfee all the time until he was trained 'cause I never trusted the little booger. Good luck. |
:welcome4: to YT... Keep in mind your baby is only 4 mo's...so she's got a ways to go with the training :) At 4 mo's you should be watching her very closely and I wouldnt recommend leaving her unattented on a couch, bed or anything else for that matter... until she's trained better... Also, I always have Meka sit a good distance from me when cleaning any accidents... they can smell so well (10x human), that I always think any chemical might be hazardous to her... but thats just me... Hope this helps, and cant wait to see pics :D |
Once they pee on something, they are attracted to that same spot over and over. You'll need an enzyme cleaner to fully get all the urine proteins out. Nature's Miracle or something similar works well. Joey seemed to like washable pee pads a lot better than disposable ones. He did much better once I switched to washable pee pads. Four months is still considered pretty young for a Yorkie. Seems like you get them trained and they have little setbacks, teething etc. Welcome to Yorkietalk. One more thing, quit hand feeding her. She will eat when she's hungry enough. |
No she doesnt eat by herself. She waits for me. Even if it takes me all day to come home. And its only me. not my daughter. so i didnt feed her yesterday. she was starving by night. hehe she eat by herself. silly girl. I love her. I guess i just needed to vent. Will that miracle thing stain my couch. Actually saw it the other day and it costs an arm and leg. We just had her for 2 weeks and i think ive spent more on the dog than my daughter this whole year. Im happy i just a little frustrated. i will try to have more patience. thank you all for your wonderful input. :) |

I would cover your couch with blankets (Put pee pads under them ) if you want your baby up on the couch with you. That way if he goes on your couch you just wash the blankets. Natures Miracle works very well... I would get the gal size, you get more for your money. I put pee pads in an enclosed area like a big box, (I use a play pen) That way they stay in there until they go. They can't just walk off the pad. The only down side is you have to take them every half hour or so. Sadie is doing very well with being potty trained. it's not 100% but she is mostly going in her potty area, she is 5 months. |
We were able to get Bailey potty trained in two months. We were persistent and diligent and followed the instructions in "Housetraining for Dummies". We both work - so we had to modify some of the instructions - but the basics worked for us. We laid blankets on the floor so I could wash them after accidents. I have an enzyme cleaner too - if by chance she did it on the carpet. And I didn't let the kids get her out - because they wouldn't watch her. The whole idea is to catch them in the act and correct their mistake. If you can't literally watch - then keep the dog in kennel. Honestly, its that simple. If you can devote two months to house training and nothing else - you will get a dog you can trust for life!! Its worth it. Please don't give up and good luck!!! |
Well, Lily just peed on the couch, she is also 4 months and being really hard to potty train. She pees all over the carpet. I tried that miracle thing and I think that made my carpet looks really bad, I prefer the one that they sell ate wal mart and it's just$4. I'll check the name and post here. Did someone tried the reusable pee pads, It's not kind a dirty? How you clean the pad? Thanks |

Just so you know that you are not alone. Mina is just under 4months. She has decided that she doesn't like the PePepads. She sleeps mostly through the night until about 5am with us. If I put her in the pac n play she will step off of the pad and try to pottie beside it. So I will be putting two in there tonight. Call me lazy but I dont feel like walking into the back yard at 5am and I really would like for her to use the pads sometimes. We left her at the house yesterday in her crate with a pad,she waited until we came home to potty, 31/2 hrs. She seems to be of the openion that if the rest of the pack uses the backyard then she should too. That is fine if she would just decide that my carpet isn't part of the backyard. But I own a carpet cleaner (6dogs) and in a few weeks she will be doing better and I will clean the carpets, which gets done about every 12 weeks because we have 4male dogs. There is a stair/furniture cleaner on it as well. It is one of the best household investments that I have ever made. |
theie is a cleaner called proklean this is very good, I used it before on some bad odors and it was the only thing to take it away, they are a little pricey , but it worked for me. They are out of oregon and the stuff ships from nevada, good luck they can be burgers to potty train, keep them in a confined space and reward her alot when she uses the pad or whatever she uses. They are very smart and also stubborn, but they are worth every penny of it just be patient, we all have been there trust me |
