For those you that grow out your dogs hair... Do you trim the hair around their eyes? Or do you let it grow and then put it up in a topknot? And if you don't trim it, what do you do in that in between stage when it is short and in their eyes? |
I do not trim due to the fact that it gets in the eyes. buckeye has had eye infection due to that hair getting dirty. the vet suggested a little of hair spray for those stays that don't get into the top knot. of course make sure it doesn't spray in the eyes. the hair doesn't really have to be very long to get it in a rubber band. might look like it is in between the eyes. lol jsut don't make it too tight or it will hurt them and then won't leave it alone. there are others on here that know much more about this than i do. but this is what i do. |
I'd love to get the experts to respond to this because this area is one I have a lot of trouble resolving. I have tried every type of topnot and keeping the hair clipped. It seems to take forever to grow. Chloe is finally leaving her topnot alone but I am constantly redoing it. Lacey has fine hair and a tiny head, a bow lasts about two hours. Usually they look like sheepdogs. Any advice is appreciated. |
I'm NO expert by far but ...I trim - my girls are just playing in the yard and it only takes a minute to trim that stray hair and keep it out of their eyes.... VASALINE will help with the strays - I don't ever put hairspray on the girls cause of the fumes - but vasaline worked really well when Cheri's hair was in that funny stage .... |
actually about 2 hours would be good on ahia. she uses her paws(hands) to brush down what i brush up. there was a thread a while back that gave some pretty good advice on this subject. do a search on it and see what you come up with. i used one idea about using 2 "pony tails" together and it worked as far as keeping the bow in longer. |
