New GPS collars? Has anyone used the GPS collar by zoombak? And does anyone know if there is a company out there that makes them smaller? I heard about this from a friend and I am really currious about how they work. Thankyou |
Interesting. I've never heard of it. |
There was a thread about this a while back, I don't believe anybody here has used it for their Yorkies. It states on the website that it's only for dogs over 20lbs or something like that. I think the tracking device on the collar is too big. |
There are some similar things out there that are smaller. I have the info on my other computer and will post it tomorrow. I forget which one it is that's small enough for a yorkie, but I"ve researched them and I know there's one at least. I think if you do a search for gps units for pets, you'll find a lot of different options. One thing though, is that if you're dog is stolen, thieves would most likely remove the collar anyway. What they need to come out with is a microchip that has gps capabilities! Even if thieves did remove the collar, at least you might have an indication of which way they started off.....and be able to possibly retrieve the collar with fingerprints??? I know...I watch too much CSI:rolleyes: . |
Like this?: http://www.petedge.com/catalog/produ...roductId=51822 I believe it's for small to large dogs, not just large dogs. |
Thankyou all for your insight. I was thinking that It would be great for when we go to events and stuff If I could find on small and light enough. I am sure that technology will get there eventually I just cannot seem to find one small enough for a yorkie. I think that it is such a good idea. I have known so many dogs that have gotten loose, my mom for instance just found by chance a dog that ran away 8 years ago. He was local and the people who found him tried to find his original owners. he is a happy and healthy and extremely lucky dog. If he had been microchipped of had one of these colars (or both:) ) He would have been found. |
