Walking two dogs is no fun!!! Man it's alot of work walking two dogs, one pulls the other... Sadie is so excited she tries to nip at poor chewy to play. (He justs wants to walk!) I know Sadie is a puppy and she is learning but phew I'm exahusted from a quick walk. And timid, shy Sadie decided to BARK and GROWL at this HUGE german sheperd thats HATES OTHER DOGS while we out!!! Good thing that dog was tied with a HUGE CHAIN! he would have ate her! |
Yeah tried it once. They had me all twisted up Spent more time unwinding them then actually walking.. |
omg! i call it adventures in dog walking. the little guys are tough. lol...i have 1 york and my mom has 2...so i walk 3 frequently..plus she dog sits another yorkie sometimes..that's 4 yorkies on a walk! they keep me young.:) |
I know how you feel... Two wasn't bad.. but then we went to three.. lol that was an adventure and when Peyton feels he's big enough to get on the floor and walk, that will be four!! LOL Thank goodness for couplers! :D |

I can imagine, I haven't taken Izzie out with Tobey yet until she has all her shots, but I know it wont be fun. When I lived with my best friend she got a cocker spaniel and it was a mess trying to walk the him and Tobey |

I've got walking 4 down pat. It was that 5th one that I dogsat that really tangled things up. I think they get used to walking with each other after awhile though. I love walking my four especially when the weather is nice. |
i walk 5 dogs all different sizes its hard when we first get going but once that part is over its all good:) |

I agree, I use to walk my great dane and pug together all the time. One would not walk if the other was not w/him!:animal36 :animal36 :animal-pa |
Oh gosh Brooke, I hear ya girl! I know EXACTLY how you feel! I tried that ONE TIME and said NOOOOO WAY, lol. No way in HECK could I walk BOTH of my babies by myself  One would probably end up getting away from me or either they'd choke to death from getting all tangled and caught up in the leashes  ANY time we go walking, my hubby takes one baby and I take one. Usually he has Stedman and I have Tatum because Tatum is such a mommy's girl and always has to be with me  Sometimes we trick her though and switch them around when their not looking so that I can get to walk my boy :) One thing you could maybe try though, is using a Leash Coupler. Have you ever tried one of those before? That way, you can walk 2 dogs with one leash :) I have one for my babies and I will probably start using it again after Tatum has her LP surgery and is all better. I don't like using it now when her little knees are messed up because Stedman pulls on her and sometimes makes her slide around lol. They've just got to get used to using it more :) |

oh i LOVE the walking 2,, and 3,, its the Draggin or sudden stops that get me!!LOL,, but overall ,, my girls are good on their walks,, love those couplers,, now i need a new 3way adjustable :dogwalk: :dogwalk: :dogwalk: |
Surprisingly it's easier for me to walk my two by myself, than if someone else is helping me. Smokey pulls, but he just walks in a straight line. Chip is the one that is all over the sidewalk getting tangled. He's my little trouble maker :-) It is difficult to walk two dogs. I'm going to get them both gentle leader easy walk harnesses and hook it up to a coupler and get a shorter leash. I think that might do the trick. |
I dont have any trouble with mine during walks but if I go someplace like petsmart they get all tangled up in each their leashes. I dont know if they do it because they are excited or what. |

I walk my two at the same time and I know exactly what you mean. My youngest wants to run one way while my older one wants to run another. Also my older dog Rickles is scared to death of other dogs since we were attacked by a St. Benard a couple of couple of years ago so he barks like crazy if he sees another dog. I sure do get a work out. I have a leash coupler and use it some but it's still hard. |
I love walking my 2. I use a coupler. They are about the same size and with the coupler, they stay side by side. They have learned to stop when the other one stops, it's great!! |
I have a similar problem with Gracie and Holly. I found it helpful to let Gracie go ahead on a longer leash, and keep Holly's leash really short so it forces her to heel. That way she can't jump on Gracie or otherwise get into a tangled mess. Another thing I discovered is, if I put Gracie in the stroller and then let Holly walk, Holly automatically heels to stay behind the wheels of the stroller. |
I use a coupler with my 8 month old Yorkie and 15 month Pom and they do just fine now that CoCo is a little bigger. I went out for the first time in ages today because of all our heavy snowfall and it was very refreshing but I had to wipe off 8 muddy paws. :) |

I too tried the coupler, but Holly is just too young for that. She kept jumping all over Gracie and getting tangled up. I found one long leash and one short leash works the best for now. I will try the coupler again if and when Holly mellows out a bit. |
It's so nice to hear everyone else's stories....I thought I was the only one having problems...lol. I have 3 and the puppy, 6 mths, is the one who wants to attack everyone else.. I get so frustrated. She'll hurry a few steps ahead...then get in her "attack" position and as soon as Foxxy or Diva catch up to her,,,she jumps them...Diva's def. a stroller...just wants to walk along with no care in the world...Foxxy is kind of in between...strolls then looks to see what she can get into, then strolls along again...Duchess...well like I said..All Over the Place..lol On really tiring days, when I didn't feel like having to deal with that, I ended up taking the puppy by herself then went back and took Diva & Foxxy. It's much better now though! :D |
My Mom and I walk and each take one! Since Wrigley is 5lbs and Crosley is 16lbs, she can't keep up as fast. Plus they are always zig zagging in front of me and I know one of these times, I'm going to break my neck! We didn't accomplish the whole calm walking in dog training! |
I have three and only one is a good walker. You'd think after a few years they would get it. Snitch jumps up and down like a wild horse, Snuggles looks like a bull dragging the boys behind her. Spyro stays right next to me when he isn't being bounced around by Snitch. The boys are together on a coupler and Snuggles gets a leash alone. I've tried different variations of coupling them but this ones seems like easiest. I'm always about to be knocked down with the leads. I was thinking of using a 3' pvc pipe and pulling the leashes thru there so i can have a safe distance from them while walking and running. We'll see how that works |
