Need some help with possessive babies! Hi! I am a single 'mom' to my 2 yorkie boys. They are 2.5 years old and Ive had them since they were 9 weeks old. They have live with me and me alone for all that time. I dated guys for lengths of time and they have been ok, but the guy Im with now, it feels like they are digressing! What little ways we've come in potty training they have digressed completely! They are always peeing and pooping in the house, on my coat/clothes. :thumbdown They used to eat shoes, but stopped a LONG time ago, lately they are back to that. Whenever my guy comes near me to hug me or just to help me, they jump on our legs whining and crying to be picked up. They sleep b/t us in bed. I know its a jealous/possessive thing, but this has got to stop! any ideas on how to stop this? My guy is soo good with them, but he does not understand that giving in to what they want is reinforcing this bad behavior! They love him and never act mean towards him, just possessive of me! Any advice?!?!?!?! |
There is a tv show called it's me or the dog, and what she did in that situation was every time the dogs jumped up on them or in between them she told them to stand up and turn around eventually they got he point. As far as the chewing and potty problem, are you spending less time walking and playing with them? They are trying to get your attention about something. Maybe an extra walk with you and the boyfriend might help. |
they get the same amount of time from me! Last night we were laying on the bed, on top of the comforter and one boy was up on the bed and the other chose not to come up. When I went to get him a few mins later, he was chewing my shoe!!! He was not being ignored, he didnt want to come up! They get soooo much of my attn! Well I guess I missed a part here too.... I work full time and I go to school part time nights, that started this semester. So maybe its that in combination with the boyfriend too... I dunno! :( |
Any change in the normal routine is bound to cause a reaction. Put yourself in there position. How would you feel. I am not by any means telling you you are doing anything wrong. I commend you for going to school, and working. It will just take a bit of adjustment on everyone's part to get used to the new situation. Thats a lot of change for both you and them. Be patient, show them a little more attention, and maybe get the boyfriend to do things with them without you. |
 I had kind of the same problem, but my Harley had been very aggressive towards my boyfriend. A member on here advised me that I needed to let him know that my boyfriend was the alpha. Even though it killed me to do it, I had to not let Harley in my bed anymore to sleep, even if my bf wasn't there. I will admit, it was hard and I felt REALLY bad. But I can say this, after only 4 times of my bf spending the night and my bf being the one to keep Harley on the ground, and tell him NO and take him for his walks, Harley is great now! He is back to sleeping in my bed and actually sleeps on my bf's side, totally away from me. He still gets all wound up and a bit aggressive when my boyfriend comes over, but at least he isn't attacking him any more! lol Here is the thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=116292 |
Yeah, he'll come over some night while I am logged in to my class (I go to a local state university, but I take online classes so i dont have to leave the house to go to school) and while Im doing work he'll watch tv with them, take them downstairs and play fetch with them, cuddle with them, walk them... generally he'll keep them away from me so that I can do homework. Im so grateful for that! |
