We visited a breeder in North Alabama yesterday and we were discussing breeding. I assured her that I had no intention of breeding our new puppy. Sophie's mom almost died during delivery and had to have a C-section. The breeder simply said "Never, ever breed your family pet." Too many things can happen to it. I didn't even know how many things could go wrong until I read the post above. This breeder had a family pet which lived in her home, and then she had her 'breeders' which lived in their kennel with attached playyard. |
If someone breeds some of their dogs and keeps some as pets, the way to prevent an OOPS! is simple. Have the pet spayed or neutered. I cannot imagine under any circumstances, keeping some of my Yorkies somewhere other than in my home..I know some kennels are clean, well ventilated, environmentally controlled and so on...but they still are away from their humans for much of the 24 hour day..JMHO |
Not breeding You guys i don't plan on breeding i just think that should be up to the new owner of the pup thats all . I have no time to breed these babies . However if i gotta get a pup that has limited registration then i will . I dont want anyone to think this is my means for wanting a female. :aimeeyork |
My fiance made me do research for 7 months before we got Princess. I bought books on Yorkies and went to several dog shows. I met some really great breeders to. I talked to all of them on the phone many times to get to know them better. I thought I found one I really liked. David, my fiance, then took me to one more dog show 2 hours away and that is where I met the Ava Tyree, Princess' breeder. I walked up to her and introduced myself (after they showed) and got all her information. David and I drove about 6 hours to get her in Georgia. It was so worth it though bc I am soooo happy we got Princess. Driving was not that bad either. It was actually exciting knwoing you were picking up a new family member. Good luck!!! :animal-sm |
[i just think that should be up to the new owner of the pup thats all . It really can't be left up to the new owner of the pup because the breeder is selling you a pet quality pup that should not be bred. As a breeder, any pup that leaves my care is still my responsibility. If that pup produces who knows what, then it's because of me that it's pups are on the planet and those pups are also my responsibility. Why would I want the responsibility for pups produced from a dog I didn't feel suitable for breeding in the first place? There are far too many people backyard breeding without a care to what they are producing, a good breeder will try to prevent this if at all possible with limited registration. |
If you're still looking for a female pup call Kim or Linda at Magic Vista Ranch, yorkiemagic.com ... they've got two little gals right now ... MVR is located just north of Fort Worth in Justin. |

Hello. I could give you the name of my breeder and the name of a couple more. I am in Texas, too. If you are interested. I searched for 3 years for mine. good luck |
Im not a breeder but I agreed that we should not breed our pets. Also dont rush it, you will find a healthy female in due time. Im talking cause of experince. We rushed it. We bought Gucci without doing a lot of research and Gucci was sick when we got her. Of course I dont regret getting her cause she is my baby. But I wish that she was healthy, all the money we had spent on vet's visits and medicines could have being use in getting things for her. JMO |

This is not the way breeders think however. It is perfectly normal for breeders to "protect" their line and to control the rights to the breeding of the puppies they produce. It is a whole different world actually and I have gotten somewhat used to it but not without a lot of controversy because I am so used to things being different in the business world I am used to. I got a puppy from a wonderful breeder in Texas and I have gotten to know a couple more in my search for my new baby that I just brought home. I would be happy to provide contact info if you PM me. |
check you pm's and email..I have your list ready |

Kim Kim, the breeder should have told you before the purchase..nothing wrong in making any kind of rules a breeders wants to make..but the buyer should be told everything before hand so they can agree or not. |
