I am a nanny of a 5 and 6 year old but the family I work for has friends that come over with their 15month old baby and Lily loves her and she is really good with Lily. Lily comes to work every day with me and the family I work for also has 2 lager German shepherds and they do fine with lily ,but I always sit with Lily when they play because one of them is only 2 and she does not realize what a big dog she is and can sometimes play rough. Also I find with kids if you teach the two finger rule when touching a dog that it tends to help them with being gentile.

We also have an 80 lb black Lab (Lucee) and Lucee and Bella LOVE each other. Lucee is very gentle with Bella, has been from the start BUT I do not let them play unsupervised because sometimes they BOTH get too excited and I'm afraid Bella could get hurt (it would be completely accidental).

We don't have any small children living in the house but I have a 23 month old granddaughter and Bella does great with her, but again it's very supervised because Makenzie is just too young to understand that she could hurt Bella and I don't wan't to take a chance that if Bella were to get hurt she might snap at or bite Makenzie (bascially I need to protect them both). Since Gracey is not a puppy (a couple of years old?) and you don't really know much about her personality or history I would really pay attention to how she reacts to your daughter, she may have a fear of children which you'll need to be aware of. Bottom line, don't let them be around each other unsuperivsed and as your daughter gets older and she learns how to handle Gracey hopefully they'll become best buds!:)

Yep, It just depends on the child(ren)... They can feel the vibe and can run, get excited, crazy, etc.... Kitty is that way

THanks everyone. I called teh young lady who spoke with me when I adopted her. She said she would probably be here Wednesday. She said she looked like a completely different doggie with her new haircut. I can't wait to get her tomorrow. I sat down last night and made her glass bead necklace with her little pink heart tag on it. It's so cute and girly!!!!

I have a rather LARGE akita cross (1.5 years old) and she plays with him so gently it is as if he is her own puppy! (So cute! her paw is the size of his whole head!) I still do not leave them unsupervised though :)

I have a daughter who is only 10months old and have small ones (4 legged). Everything has always worked out.

Having a little Yorkie is almost the same as having another baby. Supervision is very very important. Your child is too young to understand how fragile the pup, so you will have to keep constant watch and when you cannot supervise, the pup must be put into an Xpen or his crate.

I am sure it will work out for you. The pup will be so happy to have such a nice home and your baby will be growing up with a nice little friend.
