Yeah no worries! you're right, either way he gets the same amount of time with someone at home :) That's the most important thing :D And by the time he comes to work with you he will be 100% so it won't matter anyways ;) |
Mac and Mellie had invisible stiches so I didn't have to have the collar or worry about licking |
Chachi is gonna be neutered this month. I will only put the lampshade on if he is chewing his stitches. I think a onsie is a good idea. |
1 Attachment(s) Gus wouldn't leave his stitches alone but he was miserable with the collar on so I put him in a onesie. It worked great. He wore the normal onesie during the day when I could watch him but at night I had to put him in one with pants because he could get his nose in the leg hole and reach the stitches. |
Alley's stitches Alley was neutered by laser and had internal stitches. He didn't bite at them at all and there was no need for the cone thingy. Three months later I noticed that one of his stitches didn't dissolve and was irritating him. We headed to the vet where she pulled it right out with tweezers and he didn't flinch! Good luck with Maximus! :animal-sm |

Just courious as to wether your vet requires the dog to stay the night after being neutered. My vet is very good to us and loves Diesel and Daisy, but even after I begged her, she said she would feel more comfortable if Diesel stayed at the vet the night of the surgery..I dont agree, therefore have been ignoring the fact that he needs to be neutered.. |
What a sweet vet to make your baby a onesie..So many people on here use them and cut a hole for the tail..I routinely put either bitter orange or tea tree oil about 1/2 inch from the wound to keep them from licking. At my house with so many critters they will take off the collars or onsies and lick each other. . But with the products I mentioned, everyone leaves the others alone.. |
Awww, poor little guy! We hope you won't be under the weather too long! Sorry I can't give you any advice Samantha, but Lily and I are both sending hugs and kisses to Maximus. |

I used a baby onesie and just cut a hole for his tail. It worked very well except before you take him out to do his business you have to undo the snaps and roll it up then do it back up again. At night I put the collar on but let him sleep in the playpen (he is usually crated). I felt mean but I really didn't want him pulling out any stitches. We did the collar at night for 4 days and I left the onesie on him at night for 8 days. The vet told me 5-7 days. Good Luck! |

I think I will talk to my vet about that. I would much rather have diesel home so we can watch him. I dont think I would be able to sleep without him up against me on one side and daisy on the other... |
Ask your vet to do the blood panel a few days before and then ask him to do your baby the first thing in the morning. That way he can react from the anesthesia and get a pain shot before coming home to you. Just make sure he drinks, pees, poops and doesn't jump.. Let us know how it goes. |
