Should be getting my baby tomorrow My bf should be getting me my Tia tomorrow ;) :) :D I am excited but I don't want to get too excited until shes at home with me :-) as I have been very disappointed in the past - can you believe its been like 6months + that I have been waiting :( I've not really brought anything yet, so will have to do that all tomorrow. I think I will get a carrier before we get her so that I can take her carry her, then on the way back we will need to get some other essentials I was thinking 1 - baby/ puppy gate - but wasn't sure if this was a good idea as seemingly she will be able to get through the holes as she is a puppy and still very small!? 2. - Doggie bed - What's the best type of bed for a puppy. Me being a human I would go for a soft, comfy one. But what is best suitable for a pup? 3. Metal crate, for when I'm training her - although I don't think I will use it for her to sleep in; as I'm aware puppies need to relieve themselves fairly often; and she won't be able to do so if i'm sleeping - what do u think? Food - obviously; but I have to see what the breeder has her on; so not to upset her stomach. I have already a vet I would like to go to. I was advised to take her in a week after I get her (once she is settled in) to do some preliminary checks. I may take her straight after I get her; then again in a week's time - and when I'm there book her in for her next set of shots. I already have a grooming set (brush etc); I also have a lead for when she gets older (it was cute and on sale) - although I am a little concerned about it as; it has a button which you can press to shorten the lease. Surely you wouldnt press the button when the dog is attached to the leash; as it tugs quite hard and I imagine could really hurt such a small dog!? What have I forgotten Thanks for reading... I know its long :p guess you can read my excitment :p LOL |
1.Baby gate -Dont use until the puppy is over 5lbs.Unless you have one that is attached to wall. 2. I would use a ex-pen. Put bed and puppy pads , water and food bowl inside. Make use you put puppy pads at one end and Feed bowls and bed at other end. 3. use a regular leash for puppy.Harness |
I know you are so excited!!! Please use a harness and not a collar...just a fyi. I use the retractable leashes but usually have it in the lock position. I have several different types of carriers. My favorite one is like a front pack and Murfee rides in it great. We started him in it when he was about 3 months old. I'm sure you will do fine. Congrats on the new baby. |
How exciting for you. I took a receiving blanket to the breeders so that I could rub the mother with it. That way Joey had his mama's scent with him. Some people use a playpen with a bed and pee pad for training. Some use a crate and you take them out every few hours. Good luck with your baby, can't wait to see pictures. |
aww just wanted to say congrats and cant wait to see some pic:) |
Welcome and congratulations! :) I just have a couple of reminders. Vet = you need to have your baby seen within 48 hours for most health contracts, plus it's a REALLY good idea just to be safe. Taking your baby places = please don't take your baby out for EVEN a walk until all of the baby shots are finished. No Petsmart, no Target, no nothing. This is REALLY important. Parvo has been really bad lately. :( |
Congratulations on your new furbaby! Isn't it exciting? I can't wait to see pictures! |
