He's Playing With Pee Pad in Play Pen!! I had hoped to get some sleep tonight by placing Logan in a playpen with a pee pad. But instead of sleeping, he's playing with the pee pad! Now he's barking. This isn't working, and I don't know what else to do. |
I use painters tape or masking tape to hold the pad down and make it less attractive to play with while in the pen. Good luck. Katelin |
Oh sweetie, duct tape that pad down and ignore him. He'll give up sooner or later and take a little snooze himself. |
There is a holder to place the pads in too. Makes it more difficult to shred. |

Try washable pads, they are heavier and not so fun to play with. Or put him in the crate at night without a pad. |
Sophie tore the pee pads out of the holder when she was a puppy. She also chewed the holder. I would try the duct tape first. We've since moved to the washable pads. I think they work better. Good Luck! It gets much better....I promise ;) . |
Thank you! I will try taping down the pad at night. Or if that doesn't work, I will look into getting the frame. I have never seen or heard of that, but it's a good idea. Believe it or not, he STILL woke me up last night. But he did use the pee pad. So perhaps his waking me up was out of habit because he had a place to go potty at night. Or else I'm confusing him. This was just the first night, so I'm going to keep doing this. I appreciate all your help. You guys are great! |
Not sure how old he is... But the best thing for me has been crate training Meka. We had a similar set up for her when she was younger... But, it proved not to work for us. Crate training really helps get them on your schedule... Maybe you can look into that :) |

Sometimes the most loving thing you can do for both of you is say "Hush" and go back to sleep. Dogs get used to certain behavior, just like people. With Bizzy Bee, she was so social that she wanted to get up many times a night. I finally realized that she didn't really need to go out, but just wanted to socialize -- in the middle of the night! So I started saying "Hush", and not getting up, and now we have a peacefully quiet night -- until 7:00 a.m. which is her absolute latest sleep in. I am sooo sympathetic -- good luck. Katelin |

We had to stop doing this for Hallee because even if we taped it down she pulled it up. We came home for lunch one day and Hallee was laying there choking, what we believe to be the blue plastic part of the pee pad. Thank goodness we came home at lunch because she was layed out flat struggling to breathe with her feet straight out. She could not even stand. We use the cloth pee pads now that we bought from from one of the members here and we love them. Be careful your little one is not pulling it apart ect. Can never be too careful. |

Oh, my goodness!! And I thought the mess of shredded pads was bad! I am so glad you were there to save her! I hate to think what would have happened if you hadn't come home. How scary!! Glad I use washables. |
