is this just a myth? i heard that yorkies often have eye problems..is this just a myth? |
Of course, they can have eye problems like any other dog. I am more concerned about their teeth.. Do you have a baby with eye problems?? |
i am buying my puppy yorkie tonight! heres her pic..my dad commented her eyes are looking different directions sort of..& i looked around on the internet about eye problems..i dont think it really looks like she does though..i was just wondering. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...iegirls175.jpg |
Your puppy is adorable! |
No worries! She's a cutiepie. Fred's eyes look like that sometimes, too. I'm not sure if its because of the direction he's looking or what. But, he's all normal and all healthy! |
WHAT A CUTIE :p |
She is a cutiepie and adorable. If you are concern take her to the vet and find out from your breeder what his warranty entitles. I think she is fine but then again is just a picture. I think she is very cute. |
awww she's adorable!! you're so lucky!!! her eyes are fine. it's probably just the angle or something. if not she's still adorable!!! good luck! |
Have you seen her in person yet? I think it would be hard to tell from pictures. |
I looked at a pup back in January, she was 3 weeks old and her eyes were the opposite of crossed. I later found out is was strabismus which is linked to hydrocephalus. This pup had the largest roundest head that the breeder had ever seen, though he kept assuring me that the pup was normal and would soon grow into her head. I visited this pup every week till I had to make the decision whether I was going to purchase her. He wanted me to take her at 8 weeks, which is much to soon for a tiny yorkie that did not weigh a pound. The bottom line is I made the decision not to take her, but did see her at 3 and 4 months of age and was amazed to see that her eye condition did improve, but was still so obvious to me. Because eyes work in stereo and she was not seeing properly her ears developed another function. Yorkies always talk with their ears, but this was different, when someone would speak or a noise was heard, the ears would be the fist to respond and the eyes would be slow to respond. It was interesting. However this was a rare case, and I do not think that your puppy has an eye problem. I did extensive research at the time to find out what this puppy’s condition was because this breeder was not going to be truthful. It was difficult at best to find any eye problems. I also think that your puppy is a cutie pie and can’t wait to see more pics! Sue |

If it happen, you have to put eye drop in your yorkies eye or it would dry up and or get infected. If it really serious, an operation to correct it would be necessary. But I don't think it happen as often as in some other breeds. |
I've heard of dry eye too. But your baby is such a doll and she looks ok to me (but I'm not a professional). Maybe print the picture and show it to the a vet? |
I would advise looking at her in person also. Don't feel like you HAVE to buy her if something doesn't feel or seem right. Don't feel like you HAVE to buy her because you are there and the people seem nice. It is a lifetime of committment and a very important time to make a clear and percise decision. Is the coat important to you? The pup is a cutie, but you may want to ask some on here (like Pat) how she thinks the coat will turn out. I hope this doesn't sound ignorant, becuase I am not trying to sound that way. Whatever decision you make will be the right one for you :) . |
